From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Major winners Francesco Molinari, Louis Oosthuizen, Brooks Koepka, Jason Day and Adam Scott shared top spot at the Masters on Friday at the end of the second round, but it was Tiger Woods who commanded the spotlight once again at Augusta National.
Woods brought the roars back to the famed venue with a brilliant four-under-par 68, putting himself on track for a fifth Green Jacket.
At six-under-par 138, the American is just one shot off the leaders heading into 'moving day'.
After an ordinary outward nine featuring three birdies offset by a pair of bogeys, Woods embarked on one of his trademark charges, carding three birdies after the turn to shoot up the leaderboard.

McIlroy (E) makes bogey on 11 and it could easily have been worse for him.
A great tee shot on 12 for Rory gives him a chance to immediately get that shot back. Fowler who bogeyed as well lands his tee shot inside of McIlroy.
Fowler and McIlroy both miss to the left of the whole as the rain starts to come down. Adam Scott meanwhile eagles 15 to move to -8 for the first time!
It's properly raining now, Tiger lines up a birdie putt on 13, he sets it off left but leaves it short.
The leader, Adam Scot, glides a putt across the 16th green and cosy's it up to the hole for an easy par.
Scott pushes his par putt wide of the hole, and drops back to -7. That was an avoidable mistake.
Rory finds Rae's creek from a perfect spot on the fairway. The conditions have changed dramatically with all the rain that's coming down, the greens are running slower and there's not as much break.
Oosthuizen slots a birdie in on 15 and moves up to -7. He takes a share of the lead now as well.
