From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Major winners Francesco Molinari, Louis Oosthuizen, Brooks Koepka, Jason Day and Adam Scott shared top spot at the Masters on Friday at the end of the second round, but it was Tiger Woods who commanded the spotlight once again at Augusta National.
Woods brought the roars back to the famed venue with a brilliant four-under-par 68, putting himself on track for a fifth Green Jacket.
At six-under-par 138, the American is just one shot off the leaders heading into 'moving day'.
After an ordinary outward nine featuring three birdies offset by a pair of bogeys, Woods embarked on one of his trademark charges, carding three birdies after the turn to shoot up the leaderboard.

A huge roar from the crowd as Tiger makes a birdie on the elusive 11th. Tommy Fleetwood birdies 12 and gets a polite round of applause.
Great comment from Paul McGinley: "There are roars and then there are Tiger roars!"
Woods puts his tee shot in the middle of the green on 12 before the sirens go off.
The threat of lightning has arrived and the players are heading off the course.
No word on how long this delay is expected to last but the thunderstorms seem to be closing in.
Before the sirens went Oosthuizen moved to -6 after after birdieing 13.
Leader Board Update: Leader(s) -7

The small delay is over, the players are resuming their positions on the course.
Haotong Li takes the first shot after the restart and finds the middle of the 12th green.
Li's birdie putt narrowly misses to the left of the hole and now it's Tiger time. Woods aims the putt to the left of the hole, it skirts the edge, loops round and comes out. Par for Tiger at 12.
McIlroy and Fowler both face putts for bogey on 11, Rahm saves par on 12 after a poor first putt.
