From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Woods brought the roars back to the famed venue with a brilliant four-under-par 68, putting himself on track for a fifth Green Jacket.
At six-under-par 138, the American is just one shot off the leaders heading into 'moving day'.
After an ordinary outward nine featuring three birdies offset by a pair of bogeys, Woods embarked on one of his trademark charges, carding three birdies after the turn to shoot up the leaderboard.

Tiger keeps on moving. He makes an unlikely birdie on 14 to move to -5. If he play 15 well he could take the lead.
McIlroy saves par on 14 after a poor hole. He stays at +1 but at least he's stopped dropping shots.
Patrick Reed moves to -1 par with a birdie on 17. He's had a quiet defence so far but he'll make it to the weekend.
A par on the last hole for Adam Scott puts him in the clubhouse at -7. Rory's tee shot on 15 landed in one of the steward's buggies and he'll get a drop.
Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods.
He's rolling back the years with a birdie at 15th. That's back-to-back birdies and there goes the fist pump. He's one behind the leaders at -6.
That putt wasn't for birdie it was for par! But McIlroy makes it and saves another hole.
