Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Major winners Francesco Molinari, Louis Oosthuizen, Brooks Koepka, Jason Day and Adam Scott shared top spot at the Masters on Friday at the end of the second round, but it was Tiger Woods who commanded the spotlight once again at Augusta National.

Woods brought the roars back to the famed venue with a brilliant four-under-par 68, putting himself on track for a fifth Green Jacket.

At six-under-par 138, the American is just one shot off the leaders heading into 'moving day'.

After an ordinary outward nine featuring three birdies offset by a pair of bogeys, Woods embarked on one of his trademark charges, carding three birdies after the turn to shoot up the leaderboard.

Oh my word, Tiger's on a roll!

His approach shot to 17 lands about 6ft away from the hole. Oosthuizen cleans up on 18 and goes in with a round of 66 and a share of the lead at -7.

Huge putt for Rory!

He rolls a long, long putt up the green on 16 and sinks it for birdie! Back to Evens for McIlroy.

Tiger squeezes a birdie putt past the hole on 17 and stays at -6.

 Here's Rory!

Schauffele finishes with a birdie of the 18th and a round of 65 puts him at -6 going into the weekend.

Tiger leaves his birdie putt short on 18 and leaves himself with a tap-in par. He goes round in 68, one-shot off the lead and set himself up for tomorrow.

As has been his day, Rahm saves par again on 18 to go round in 70 and stay at -5, it's been a battling day and he comes out on top.

Haotong Li goes round in 74, +2 for the day and tournament but he makes the cut.

McIlroy misses his birdie putt on the last but goes round in 71. He's level par for the tournament and will need to shoot a low score tomorrow if he's got any chance of winning.

Fowler gets a good up and down to goes round in 71 and finish at -3. Well in the hunt.

Cameron Smith finishes with a par and a level score.
