From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Fulham are taking on Aston Villa this evening at Craven Cottage as Scott Parker’s newly promoted side search for their first points of the season.

Fulham struggled against Arsenal on the opening day but were much improved against Leeds, eventually going down 4-3. But they will need to tighten up defensively, having already shipped seven goals and looking highly susceptible at the back, something which proved their undoing in the Premier League two years ago.

Villa got off to the perfect start beating Sheffield United and will be eager to continue that momentum in what could well be a battle between two relegation fighters come the end of the season. Follow all the action below:

Liverpool have just gone up a gear. A Keita shot is deflected wide off Holding, and then Salah tries a first-time shot from a corner which flies over the bar.

Close! Alexander-Arnold whips an inch-perfect cross into the box for Van Dijk, still up from a corner, and the Dutchman’s header is hacked away off the line by Luiz.

Liverpool put together a flowing, incisive move for the first time as Keita drives forward and fees Robertson to his left. The full-back’s cross is crucially blocked with Salah making a gut-busting run towards the back post.

Arsenal are certainly a far more organised and disciplined defensive unit under Arteta. That’s clear early on as they close off gaps and cut out loose passes. Whether they can do it for 90 minutes remains to be seen.

Arsenal are sitting quite deep off the ball, surrendering possession, as they did in the 2-1 win over Liverpool at the Emirates in July.

Another slightly aggressive challenge from Mane, who pushes his arm into the face of Tierney as the two players challenge for the ball. It earns him a yellow card, and he could probably do with calming down a little.

Mane looks to be typically energetic early on, bundling into Bellerin and then sprinting away to close someone else down as the Spaniard, slightly disgruntled, gets to his feet. The tempo is high already.

Liverpool are going to try to make things “uncomfortable” for Arsenal, says Klopp. But he acknowledges the visitors’ quality, insisting that this is a “tough one”.

Arteta, meanwhile, says his side’s progression will be gradual. He’s probably looking to temper expectations a little ahead of a hugely difficult test tonight.
