Your support makes all the difference.Fulham are taking on Aston Villa this evening at Craven Cottage as Scott Parker’s newly promoted side search for their first points of the season.
Fulham struggled against Arsenal on the opening day but were much improved against Leeds, eventually going down 4-3. But they will need to tighten up defensively, having already shipped seven goals and looking highly susceptible at the back, something which proved their undoing in the Premier League two years ago.
Villa got off to the perfect start beating Sheffield United and will be eager to continue that momentum in what could well be a battle between two relegation fighters come the end of the season. Follow all the action below:
Scott Parker speaks to Sky Sports: “It's a big opportunity. Every game you play is a chance to win and a chance to get points on the board. Obviously we realise the qualities Aston Villa have but I see an opportunity for us to cause them problems as well. We're not the only team that's let in a lot of goals. But it'd be silly not to be working on things. I've got a great bunch of players who are always looking to improve.”
Emi Martinez was the standout performer in Villa’s opening game, and that was hardly surprising to anyone who saw him play for Arsenal towards the end of last season. He should make Dean Smith’s side significantly harder to break down.
The main even tonight, of course, is Arsenal’s trip to Anfield to play a Liverpool side in imperious form. It’s a game with plenty of history…
A first win of the season for Fulham? Or two from two for the visitors?
Predicting how Fulham vs Aston Villa will play out tonight
All you need to know ahead of kick-off
Tonight should be an interesting test for both teams. Fulham came up short against Arsenal and Leeds, but showed some attacking promise against the latter and will feel like this is the kind of game they’ll need to pick points up in.
For Villa, a disciplined, hard-fought victory over Sheffield United was the perfect start. Expectations are higher given their investment in the squad this summer, so the intention will be to completely avoid another relegation fight.
Fulham make three changes after their 4-3 defeat at Leeds last time out. Tom Cairney, Tim Ream and Bobby Decordova-Reid come back in as Scott Parker’s side look for their first points in the Premier League.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, are unchanged following a 1-0 win over Sheffield United. New signing Bertrand Traore makes the bench.
