Your support makes all the difference.Fulham are taking on Aston Villa this evening at Craven Cottage as Scott Parker’s newly promoted side search for their first points of the season.
Fulham struggled against Arsenal on the opening day but were much improved against Leeds, eventually going down 4-3. But they will need to tighten up defensively, having already shipped seven goals and looking highly susceptible at the back, something which proved their undoing in the Premier League two years ago.
Villa got off to the perfect start beating Sheffield United and will be eager to continue that momentum in what could well be a battle between two relegation fighters come the end of the season. Follow all the action below:
68 min
Bellerin goes into the book for a foul on Mane, preventing the Liverpool man from sprinting away down the left. Moments before, Fabinho wasn’t penalised for a very similar challenge on Aubameyang, to the frustration of Arteta.
64 min
Almost an incredibly well improvised finish from Mane as he plays a one-two with Firmino, breaks into the box and hits a left-footed shot on the swivel. It lands just wide of the left post with Leno beaten.
63 min
Chance! Lacazette is slipped through on goal by Ceballos and this time he’s onside. He has only Alisson to beat, but the goalkeeper stands up and saves with his right arm. It’s a weak finish from the Arsenal man, in truth.
62 min
Van Dijk collects the ball with plenty of space ahead of him and unleashes a stinging shot. It bounces just in front of Leno, who’s forced to push it away to his left.
61 min
Gomez plays the ball down the line and Salah races onto it, before cutting inside and drilling a shot against the left leg of Tierney.
60 min
Ceballos replaces Xhaka as Arteta looks for more dynamism in midfield.
59 min
Important defending from Lacazette to track back and dispossess Fabinho on the edge of Arsenal’s box.
At the other end, Lacazette breaks through on goal and tries to beat Alisson with a delicate chip. He fails, and the flag goes up anyway.
55 min
The opening ten minutes of the half have been more open, and Arsenal are noticeably taking more risks. That will lead to more gaps for Liverpool to exploit, of course, but it feels necessary given the home side’s dominance before the break.
53 min
Holding is caught in possession by the effervescent Mane, who’s proving a real irritant for Arsenal’s defenders. Nothing comes of it, but Liverpool’s high press has been effective all night.
