And so to our first title fight of the night in the all-Polish strawweight bout between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Karolina Kowalkiewicz. You'll have to forgive me on this one, as I'll be predominantly using Joanna and Karolina for this one, for obvious reasons...

Round 1: Joanna asserts her dominance early with a number of kicks and punches, and she's easily the more busy of the two. Karolina can't get any joy in the clinch either, but at least she's not eating punches like so many of Joanna's opponents in the past. That's one for the champ. The crowd, meanwhile, are singing The Fields of Athenry.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Karolina Kowalkiewicz
Round 2: Again Joanna is showing why she has been so dominant for so long, controlling the pace of the fight and putting her foot down at the right time. Karolina catches Joanna though and draws blood from her nose, and the champion is distracted by it. she keeps wiping her nose, but is still the more dominant. She throws a straight kick and Karolina catches it, trapping her leg up on her shoulder. Joanna's strength is enough to fight out of it though, and she finishes strongly with a spinning punch.

Round 3: Karolina keeps getting tagged, and at this rate she'll do well to see the final hooter because no one can withstand this much damage. Joanna is throwing punches kicks, elbows, to the head, body, literally anything she can chuck at Karolina, and is getting nothing clean in return. All-in-all it's become a one-sided fight right now and Karolina needs something special here. As the fight ticks past halfway, Karolina is still throwing, just not landing, and Joanna pins her against the fence. Karolina spins it around but she can't do anything with the position, and Joanna ends the round with an elbow. 3-0 as we head into the championship rounds.
