From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Woods brought the roars back to the famed venue with a brilliant four-under-par 68, putting himself on track for a fifth Green Jacket.
At six-under-par 138, the American is just one shot off the leaders heading into 'moving day'.
After an ordinary outward nine featuring three birdies offset by a pair of bogeys, Woods embarked on one of his trademark charges, carding three birdies after the turn to shoot up the leaderboard.

Two good shots from Poulter at the second set him up with an eagle putt.
Thorbjorn Olesen falls back to -1 after a bogey at the fifth.
Keegan Bradley has started well. He's made two birdies, one at the second and one at the fourth. At +2 he's still a ways back but it's worth keeping an eye on him if he can get a run going.
Kuchar and Johnson both chip onto the green and leave themselves make-able birdie putts.
Poulter's eyeing up some crystal as he goes for eagle.
No joy on the eagle front but Poulter taps in for birdie and nullifies his opening bogey. He's back to -4 thru 2.
Zach Johnson moves to +1 with a birdie of his own and Kuchar completes the hat-trick to go into the red.
A cautious start for Kisner (-3) and Aphibarnrat (-3). They've both made straight pars thru the first 3 holes.
DeChambeau is away on the first, as Poulter finds the fairway with his tee shot on the third.
A nightmare fourth for Billy Horschel (evs) undoes his good start as he makes a double-bogey and drops back to level par.
Drop shots as well for Olesen (-1) and Langer (-1) on five put a dint in their proceedings.
Mickelson (-5) finds the fairway with his opening drive off the first tee. Justin Rose (+3) lands to the left and Justin Thomas (+1) finds the fairway bunker on the right.
Kuchar (-1) skirts the hole with his birdie attempt on the third, Zach Johnson (evs) makes no mistake and claims back-to-back birdies.
Poulter can't match him though and slides his attempt to the left to stay at -4.
A solid start for Bryson DeChambeau (-6) keeps him in the lead, Dustin Johnson follows Poulter and makes a bogey on the first to drop him back to -3.
