The masters: Which golfer has won the most titles?

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Major winners Francesco Molinari, Louis Oosthuizen, Brooks Koepka, Jason Day and Adam Scott shared top spot at the Masters on Friday at the end of the second round, but it was Tiger Woods who commanded the spotlight once again at Augusta National.

Woods brought the roars back to the famed venue with a brilliant four-under-par 68, putting himself on track for a fifth Green Jacket.

At six-under-par 138, the American is just one shot off the leaders heading into 'moving day'.

After an ordinary outward nine featuring three birdies offset by a pair of bogeys, Woods embarked on one of his trademark charges, carding three birdies after the turn to shoot up the leaderboard.

Kisner and Aphibarnrat complete the first without scare as they both make par to stay at 3-under.

A few of the players found a couple of the pins a little tricky yesterday, here's a look at where they sit for today's round.

Bernhard Langer misses a 16ft putt for a birdie on the second and settles for a par.

Olesen makes a three on the third hole to move to -2.

Poulter's 2nd shot finishes to the left of the green and he's got some work to do to get up and down to save his par at the first.

Michael Jones12 April 2019 15:07

Kuchar leaves himself with a tough but get-able putt to save par.

Poulter's chip onto the green finishes close to Johnson's ball which is quite a way from the hole. He'll have a long putt for par.

Zach Johnson leaves his birdie putt an inch away from the hole but he's given Poulter a look at the line of the putt.

Par, par, par

Kizzire makes par on 7, Olesen makes par on 4 and Langer makes par on 3. They all stay at -2.

Poulter misses his par putt on the first as it moves from right-to-left and falls under the hole. He makes bogey and moves back to -3.

Kuchar makes bogey as well. Both were wayward off the tee and both paid the price.

A small pattering of rain continues to come down. Billy Horschel moves into the red with a birdie at the first.

He follows that up with another birdie at the second to move to -2, what a start for Billy.

Back on the second Kuchar and Poulter both find the fairway whilst Zach Johnson finishes in the first cut of rough to left of the fairway.

Michael Jones12 April 2019 15:26

Francesco Molinari, Tyrell Hatton and Rafael Cabrera Bello follow Poulter down the first hole.

Molinari stays at -2 by making par but Hatton moves to +2 with a bogey.

The leaders both tee off in the next half an hour:

DeChambeau (-6), Day and Dustin Johnson at 3:42pm with Koepka (-6), Rose and Speith at 4:04pm.

Wedged in between them?

Rose, Thomas and Mickelson (-5), who trails by one. They tee off at 3:53pm.
