From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

A dominant India beat Pakistan by 89 runs via Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-hit group match at Old Trafford to maintain their unbeaten World Cup record against their arch-rivals on Sunday.

Put into bat in a stop-start match, India posted a commanding 336-5 with Rohit Sharma (140) smashing his second century of the tournament.

Skipper Virat Kohli (77) and KL Rahul (57) also got fifty but Mohammad Amir's (3-47) tight death-overs spell denied India a 350-plus total in the sold out contest between the arch-rivals.

A century stand between Fakhar Zaman (62) and Babar Azam (48) kept alive Pakistan's hopes until they suffered a batting collapse and finished on 212-6 in 40 overs chasing a revised target of 302.

Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Vijay Shankar claimed two wickets each for India who now have a 7-0 record against Pakistan in World Cup.

6.0 Pakistan 20-1 Babar Azam 6 Fakhar Zaman 6

Bumrah ends what had been a good over with a loose delivery, which Babar cuts away for four. Pakistan need a lot more shots like that.

7.0 Pakistan 25-1 Babar Azam 6 Fakhar Zaman 11

Pakistan take five runs from Shankar's first full over. Some excellent fielding from Kohli, who's not just a world class batsman, prevents another boundary.

8.0 Pakistan 29-1 Babar Azam 6 Fakhar Zaman 15

Bumrah was on course for a maiden over but a short ball down the leg side is pulled away for four by Fakhar. India are concerned about the Bhuvneshwar situation. It doesn't look like he'll be coming back out to bowl.

8.3 Pakistan 33-1 Babar Azam 10 Fakhar Zaman 15

A lovely, perfectly-timed cover drive from Babar takes him into double figures. India have opted for a change of bowlers, despite Shankar's wicket. Hardik Pandya is into the attack.

10.0 Pakistan 38-1 Babar Azam 13 Fakhar Zaman 16

Shankar does continue actually, just at the other end. Pakistan have not taken advantage of the enforced absence of Bhuvneshwar, who was bowling well before he went off. Just four runs from the over, and only 38 from the first ten. Pakistan will have to up the pace soon.

11.0 Pakistan 41-1 Babar Azam 15 Fakhar Zaman 17

Pakistan continue to trudge along, but there's no fluidity to their batting so far. Pandya keeps a consistent line and length and doesn't give Babar or Fakhar much to work with.

Callum Rice-Coates16 June 2019 16:27

12.0 Pakistan 49-1 Babar Azam 22 Fakhar Zaman 18

A much better over from a Pakistan perspective. Shankar encourages Babar to hit on the off side and that's exactly what he does, pushing the final delivery of the over into the gap for four.

Callum Rice-Coates16 June 2019 16:32

13.0 Pakistan 51-1 Babar Azam 23 Fakhar Zaman 19

India introduce some spin in Kuldeep Yadav and his first over is a good one. Pakistan get just two runs from it, but they do bring up their 50. The run rate remains below four, though.

13.3 Pakistan 56-1 Babar Azam 24 Fakhar Zaman 23

Fakhar nonchalantly hooks a short ball from Pandya to the boundary for four.
