From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Mercedez Benz Superdome stages the 34th edition of WrestleMania, which sees a number of fascinating matches booked and the potential second departure of Brock Lesnar, plus a number of rumoured returns including that of the supposedly retired Undertaker.
But one of the biggest matches of the night could well be that of AJ Styles against Shinsuke Nakamura as the two fan-favourites go up against each other for the WWE Championship, while both women’s titles will be on the line as Charlotte Flair takes on Asuka for the Smackdown Championship and Alexa Bliss defends against Nia Jax for the Raw version.
But it’s the professional debut of Ronda Rousey – who teams up with Kurt Angle to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon – that could well be the highlight as the former UFC champion makes her bow in the WWE.

Yet another referee has run down to the ring to speak to Cena, and again, we don't hear what's said, but Cena suddenly looked disappointed and it leaving the ring...AND THE LIGHTS GO OUT!
It appears that Elias is doing his best to rile The Undertaker by insulting his ability...now if only the Deadman was there to do something about it...
Either way, Elias has made his way to the ring, guitar and all, and is ordering Cena to leave the ring so he can perform.
Cena leaves, goes back to his seat in the crowd, and Elias starts strumming away. I've got to say, this isn't the highlight of the night...
Cena charges back into the ring after Elias reels of a few lines of his latest hit, The WWE Universe Sucks, and Elias gets an AA for his efforts. Thanks for coming Elias.
The spotlight comes back on, and inside the ring lies The Undertakes hat, coat and gloves. Two lightning bolts shoot down from the sky and when the lights come back on, they're gone. Is he back? YES HE IS! The arena starts to gong that only means one thing!
Rising up from the stage, The Undertaker is back! Who'd have thought, eh?
