From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Mercedez Benz Superdome stages the 34th edition of WrestleMania, which sees a number of fascinating matches booked and the potential second departure of Brock Lesnar, plus a number of rumoured returns including that of the supposedly retired Undertaker.
But one of the biggest matches of the night could well be that of AJ Styles against Shinsuke Nakamura as the two fan-favourites go up against each other for the WWE Championship, while both women’s titles will be on the line as Charlotte Flair takes on Asuka for the Smackdown Championship and Alexa Bliss defends against Nia Jax for the Raw version.
But it’s the professional debut of Ronda Rousey – who teams up with Kurt Angle to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon – that could well be the highlight as the former UFC champion makes her bow in the WWE.

Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle vs Stephanie McMahon & Triple H
Rousey eventually gets taken out by Stephanie outside the ring, but Angle is back in and is going at it with Triple H. He lands three suplexes but Triple H goes for the Pedigree. Angle blocks it not once but twice, and Triple H then has to fight out of the Ankle Lock. He does that but...ANGLE SLAM! He goes for another Ankle Lock, but Stephanie distracts him and when she tries to kick him, he catches her leg...Ankle Lock!
Triple H makes the save...Pedigree! But Rousey breaks up the count!
Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle vs Stephanie McMahon & Triple H
Triple H hoists Rousey up and is going for a huge powerbomb, but Rousey counters with a Hurricanrana! Se puts Triple H into the Armbar and Stephanie breaks it up, but quickly finds herslef in an Armbar of her own! Triple H climbs into the ring but Angle locks him in the Ankle Lock.
It looks like a double submission finish, but Tripl H flips through and Angle takes out Rousey by mistake!
Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle vs Stephanie McMahon & Triple H
Triple H and Stephanie go for the double Pedigree, but Angle flips HHH out of the ring and Rousey locks Stephanie in the Armbar!
STEPHANIE TAPS! KURT ANGLE AND RONDA ROUSEY BEAT TRIPLE H AND STEPHANIE MCMAHON!
Well, after that there can be no doubting, Ronda Rousey has earned her place in the WWE and from the victory, she's here to stay. The win may not be that surprising, but picking up Triple H and holding him there?! Incredible strength,
Ronda Rousey dishes out the punishment to Triple H
Triple Threat Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match
The New Day make there way to the ring in their usual bizarre method, with seven dwarfs dressed as pancakes and doing the warm accompanying them. Why? I have no idea. The Usos follow, before the Bludgeon Brothers walk out and are immediately attack by both teams. We're underway!
Triple Threat Smackdown ta Team Championship Match
Well this is proving a damn sight harder to call than every match we've had so far. Haper and Rowan are looking to try and dominate, but the Usos as working well together to pick them apart, and throw Big E into the mix and there's just bodies everywhere.
I *think* Harper and Kofi Kingston are now the two legal men, which is bad news for Kofi as he's in the ring alone with Harper.
Triple Threat Smackdown ta Team Championship Match
Big E makes the save for Kofi along with the Usos, but as they go for a triple powerbomb off the turnbuckle, Rowan rushes in and sends the Usos flying over the ropes and to the deck. Big E then gets tossed down to the mat, and it's not looking good for Kofi here...
Harper powerbombs Kingston off the top rope!
THE BLUDGEON BROTHERS WIN THE SMACKDOWN TAG TEAM TITLES!
Triple Threat Smackdown ta Team Championship Match
It was certainly the quickest match of the night and possibly the most dominant as Harper and Rowan rarely looked troubled in there. It wasn't a great match though, and probably was a bit of a backwards step after the Rousey epic.
