Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.England are back in the game that no one wants to be involved in as they take on Belgium for the accolade of finishing third at the World Cup, which should they win would be their best finish at the tournament since winning it in 1966.
It will be the second time the two teams have played after meeting in the final round of group stage fixtures, where Belgium ran out 1-0 winners to secure top spot in Group G.
Adnan Januzaj scored the only goal of the game there – that may actually have cost Belgium a World Cup final spot given their tougher route – but he doesn't get a second chance to shine as Belgium named their strongest team possible in St Petersburg, with England in contract making numerous changes..

Odds
Belgium: 6/5
England: 12/5
Draw: 14/5
Harry Kane guilty of missing England's best chance, and looks to be slightly off the pace, as he did against Croatia, One too many games catching up with the striker?
We need more from England in this second half, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek with the ball at his feet looks an outlet for England. In a tired squad he offers skill and excitement. But Dier and Delph must remain disciplined to stop so much space appearing for Tielemans and De Bruyne
HT Subs: Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford on at half-time, with Raheem Sterling and Danny Rose making way
47 mins: Loftus-Cheek gets a chance against Kompany, but the Manchester City defender is equal to it.
51 mins: Kieran Trippier with another dangerous delivery and it's Jan Vertonghen again with some last ditch defending.
Hazard breaks forward and Stones picks up a yellow card for his foul on him
