Haji Wright sent Coventry into the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley after the USA international’s 100th-minute winner secured a 3-2 win to stun Wolves.

In a thrilling quarter-final, the Sky Blues appeared to have squandered their chance at Molineux, having led 1-0 and dominated for large spells, when the Premier League side came from behind to lead 2-1 late thanks to Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hugo Bueno’s goals.

But Ellis Simms’ second goal of the game in the 97th minute appeared to secure extra-time, but Mark Robbins’ side quickly hit their opponents with another fine goal as Wright’s curler three minutes later sent the Championship side into the final four for the first time since 1987.

Coventry will now look forward to Sunday’s semi-final draw before switching focus back to the Championship and their bid for a play-off place.

Wolves 0-0 Coventry

26 mins: Wolves look like they’re trying to calm it down a bit and regain some control.

They almost have a great chance as Jose Sa launches a ball long. it looks like it’s going out for a goal kick but Nelson Semedo manages to get round Kitching and keep it in play. He’s already almost next to the goal but he doesn’t have many options, so elects to just pass it into the centre of the box, but the shot is blocked.

Wolves 0-0 Coventry

23 mins: A couple of attacks have broken down due to sloppy play from both sides, much to the frustration of fans. Ait-Nouri is the latest guilty party as his touch is poor and it gets away from him near the edge of the Coventry box.

Wolves 0-0 Coventry

20 mins: Coventry have probably been the brighter of the two sides so far, but there’s not a lot in it.

As I type that, Wolves nearly have an excellent chance. Ait-Nouri, who’s been at the centre of a lot of Wolves’ positive play, flicks a ball into the penalty area with the outside of his boot. Sarabia is chasing, but it just overruns and ends up in the hands of Collins.

18 mins: Wolves venture into the Coventry box again, with Lemina getting to the touchline. His cutback is easily cleared though.

Wolves 0-0 Coventry

15 mins: Ellis Simms wins the ball on the left, near the Wolves box. He’s on his own as he drives into the box, and eventually lays it off but the shot is blocked. Shortly after, Wright cuts in from the left and releases a shot which goes wide of the far post.

Wolves 0-0 Coventry

13 mins: Jose Sa looks like he’s picked up an injury. He’s sitting on the ground holding his upper thigh, and Wolves look like they might take him off.

Wolves’ corner is cleared easily and Coventry look to break. Van Ewijk is carrying the ball and has options to his left and right; he doesn’t use either of them, and eventually he’s dispossessed.

Wolves 0-0 Coventry

12 mins: Ait-Nouri controls well down the left but his cross is easily collected. Wolves get their first’chance’ of the game as Air-Nouri and Joao Gomes exchange passes at the edge of the box, with the latter sending Ait-Nouri through into the box. The Algerian’s cut-back is cleared for a corner.

No clear-cut chances yet but it’s been a lively start, with the away fans helping provide the unique cup atmosphere.

Wolves 0-0 Coventry

9 mins: Palmer breaks through again but his through ball just runs a little wide. The home side’s turn for a bit of possession.

Wolves 0-0 Coventry

7 mins: The ball in is a dangerous one from Palmer, but it is easily cleared. He picks up the rebound and puts in another dangerous ball towards the back post, but it’s cleared for a corner.

Nothing comes from the corner but the away side have the ball again. Their gameplan seems pretty clear, looking to overload the box and put in crosses.

5 mins: YELLOW CARD! Coventry’s first real venture into the Wolves box is dealt with easily by the home side, but Coventry have the ball again.

The away side win a dangerous free-kick as van Ewijk is taken by by Ait-Nouri. The Wolves full-back is late to the challenge and is booked for his efforts.
