Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Championship Millwall are through to the FA Cup quarter-finals after beating League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon 1-0.

The Lions came close to adding to the 1-0 advantage given to them by Wallace's early goal on a number of occasions in the second half but failed to beat Dons goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for a second time.

Millwall join Watford and Brighton in Monday night's quarter-final draw.

Brighton 2-1 Derby

90+3 minutes

Tomori goes for the spectacular, attempting an overhead kick from Jozefzoon's cross. There's a reason he's a defender, though, and it goes out for a throw in.

Brighton 2-1 Derby

90+4 minutes

Derby have a free kick and one last chance...

Callum Rice-Coates16 February 2019 14:27

Full time: Nothing comes of the free kick and Brighton hold on! Derby did well to give themselves a chance in the second half, but they didn't quite have enough to take the Seagulls to a replay.

Brighton progress to the quarter finals for the second season in a row. If the draw is kind to them, they might go even further this year.

So Brighton join Watford in the last eight of the FA Cup, and there's plenty of drama still to come today. Our focus turns to Kingsmeadow now, where League One AFC Wimbledon host Championship side Millwall.

Team News

Wimbledon are rock bottom of League One and will again be the underdogs this afternoon. But they appear to have a knack for an upset in the FA Cup. They knocked out West Ham in the fourth round and played brilliantly in doing so. A repeat performance today will give them every chance of progressing.

For Millwall, a change in mentality will be required. After their dramatic victory over Everton in the last round they will now be expected to win and reach the quarter finals. The pressure is very much on the visitors.

Unfortunately, Wimbledon's Scott Wagstaff only makes the bench today. Expect to see him and his magnificent multicoloured beard at some point, though.

The atmosphere is building nicely for this London derby. Both sets of players have just made their way out onto the pitch. Kick off is minutes away!

Callum Rice-Coates16 February 2019 14:58

Both sets of fans and players show their respect for Gordon Banks with a minute's applause. And we're underway! Can Wimbledon pull off another shock here?

Wimbledon 0-0 Millwall

2 minutes

So close! Wimbledon very nearly take the lead inside two minutes. McLoughlin beats two players on the right and drills a cross into the box. Pigott makes a run towards the near post and directs his shot at goal. But it cannons back off the post with goalkeeper Archer helpless.
