Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Championship Millwall are through to the FA Cup quarter-finals after beating League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon 1-0.

The Lions came close to adding to the 1-0 advantage given to them by Wallace's early goal on a number of occasions in the second half but failed to beat Dons goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for a second time.

Millwall join Watford and Brighton in Monday night's quarter-final draw.

Brighton 2-0 Derby

75 minutes

It should be 3-0. Duffy, at the back post, heads a corner into the middle where Bernardo is waiting unmarked. He swings his leg at the ball and catches it well. Unfortunately, it's straight at Roos, who makes another good save.

Brighton 2-0 Derby

78 minutes

Locadia appears to have really hurt himself in an attempt to keep the ball in. He's down and shouting in pain, and it looks it could be an ankle injury.

Brighton 2-0 Derby

80 minutes

Locadia, thankfully, is up on his feet, but he's limping badly and will be replaced by Viktor Gyokeres.

GOAL! Brighton 2-1 Derby (Cole)

82 minutes

Derby are back in the game, and it's Ashley Cole of all people who scores. Huddlestone plays a brilliant pass over the top and Bogle drills a first time cross into the middle. Brighton look to have got the ball clear, but Cole is there to nod into an empty net with Button down on the ground.

Brighton 2-1 Derby

85 minutes

Derby are really putting the pressure on now. The game's been played exclusively in Brighton's half since the goal, and the visitors have had a succession of corners. From one of them, Keogh rises highest and forces Button to tip over the bar.

Brighton 2-1 Derby

86 minutes

Brighton make their second change: Bissouma is replaced by Pascal Gross.

Brighton 2-1 Derby

88 minutes

Wilson drills a ferocious shot, which Duffy again blocks. It allows Brighton to counter, and substitute Gyokeres is played through one on one with Roos. The goalkeeper makes himself big and does enough to save the shot.

Brighton 2-1 Derby

90 minutes

Derby will have four minutes of added time to find an equaliser.

Callum Rice-Coates16 February 2019 14:22

Brighton 2-1 Derby

90+1 minutes

Button nearly costs Brighton with a howler, dropping Bogle's cross under no pressure. Fortunately for him, no Derby players are around to capitalise and he claws the ball away.
