From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The January transfer window has shut and Premier League sides will have to make do with what they have until the summer beyond free agents.
Crystal Palace's late swoop for Michy Batshuayi on loan should provide intrigue with the Belgian flopping at Valencia and requiring a fresh start, and with the Eagles still to face Man United, Arsenal and Tottenham, he could still aid Chelsea this season.
Arsenal wrapped up the loan (with an option to buy) signing of Barcelona's Denis Suarez to give Unai Emery an alternative option, whilst Newcastle's club record £21 million move for Miguel Almiron should please Rafa Benitez after a turbulent few weeks.

And now for the latest news from White Hart Lane Wembley Tottenham:
Arsenal really are professionals when it comes to this sort of stuff. They've sorted out the Denis Suarez photoshoot already:
Here he is staring off into the middle distance...
Here he is strolling into Arsenal's training ground, without any socks on...
It's -1, man!
And here's a rare picture of Unai Emery without two tubs of Shockwaves hair gel slapped on top of his scalp...
MANCHESTER CITY HAVE SIGNED ANTE PALAVERSA FROM HAJDUK SPLIT!! (With the midfielder immediately rejoining the Croatian side on loan.)
He's so niche it is literally impossible to find photographs of him, a bit like a Football Manager regen, so here's an arty-farty shot of the Etihad instead.
Nice. The 18-year-old completed a medical in Manchester this week and has moved for a reported fee of £7m.
Hajduk have announced Palaversa will return to them on loan until the end of the 2019-20 season, although City can recall him next January.
The Croatia Under-19 international is happy to stay with his boyhood club ahead of linking up with "one of the biggest clubs in the world".
"Thanks to Manchester City for the trust," he told Hajduk's website.
"There is still a lot of work ahead of me. I have not yet shown all I can and I hope to play for Hajduk to justify the great trust I have received from England's champions."
Ed Malyon:
Philippe Coutinho was the talk of the January transfer window a year ago, but there is already talk of him being on the move again after his life in Barcelona went south.
The Brazilian playmaker has simply yet to fully integrate at the Nou Camp and despite Barca's 6-1 win over Sevilla last night he was non-commital over his future.
“Nobody knows what will happen in the future,” he told beIN Sports post-match.
“All I have in my head right now is to work hard.”
Liverpool sold Coutinho to Barca for £142m a year ago, mainly using that income to fund a summer move for goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
With Barca struggling to integrate Coutinho, Malcom and Ousmane Dembele it's clear that not all of them can leave right now.
But it's equally clear that Barcelona's recruitment policy hasn't been up to much if there are this many signings struggling to fit in and being shopped on the market so soon.
Absolutely no idea who Manchester City's new signing is? No worries! Here is everything you need to know about Ante Palaversa, courtesy of Croatian football writer Juraj Vrdoljak:
Fulham are in talks with Cameroon captain Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui over a proposed move to Craven Cottage.
Ngadeu-Ngadjui, 28, plays for Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic and can operate in either central defence or as a defensive midfielder.
“Slavia gave Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui permission to travel to London for negotiations with premierleague side FulhamFC,” the Czech club said on their official Twitter account.
Should Callum Hudson-Odoi leave Chelsea for the bright lights of Bayern Munich?
The famously insightful Michael Owen doesn't think so.
