The transfer deadline passed as several Premier League clubs are continued to finish off both sales and signings
The transfer window faced a frantic conclusion as Premier League clubs scrambled to complete last-minute business up to – and after – the 11pm deadline.
Raheem Sterling has completed a season-long loan move from Chelsea to Arsenal. The clubs announced the switch almost three hours after the Premier League transfer window closed. Sterling, 29, has won 82 caps for England but had found himself frozen out at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea wanted to sign a striker, but top option Victor Osimhen turned down their wage offer in favour of staying at Napoli, while Ivan Toney has moved to Saudi side Al-Ahli in a £40m transfer from Brentford.
Instead, Chelsea and Manchester United have agreed on a loan a deal for winger Jadon Sancho, who is expected to depart Old Trafford. United also finally finished off a move for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte, after Scott McTominay was sold to Napoli.
Wolves signed a trio of players, Nottingham Forest captured James-Ward Prowse on loan, as Everton made a late move for Armando Broja from Chelsea and Fulham chased Reiss Nelson from Arsenal into the small hours.

Chelsea have submitted deal sheet for Sancho
Sky Sports reports that Chelsea “have submitted [the] deal sheet in their bid to sign Jadon Sancho, meaning they have until 1am to complete a deal for the Manchester United forward”.
That is another deal that looks like it should be going ahead.
Sterling latest
The Independent’s Miguel Delaney reports that the relevant documents were sent in time, so the “deadline shouldn’t be a problem”.
Sterling looks set to join Arsenal as long as everything goes ahead as planned.
Deals announced in the Premier League
Deals are still being announced in the top flight, with James Ward-Prowse having just joined Forest on loan.
Meanwhile, Forest have also completed the signing of Benfica defender Morato for £15m.
In addition, Aguerd has joined Real Sociedad from West Ham.
Fabrizio Romano was correct about that move to Fulham for Ernest Nuamah – that is off, with the winger staying at Lyon.
Giovani Lo Celso has left Spurs for Real Betis, while Fulham have submitted a last-minute deal sheet for Reiss Nelson, who ended up rejecting Ipswich.
Transfer window – what happens next?
Thought the window is technically shut, clubs get an additional hours to complete deals if they have submitted a ‘deal sheet’.
A deal sheet is a document that confirms that an agreement has been reached before the 11pm deadline, but at the same time requires additional time to be sealed.
According to Sky, “deal sheets must be fully completed and submitted after 9pm but before the 11pm deadline”.
“However, international transfers must be completed by 12am - the deadline set by FIFA”.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the “medical tests [are] ongoing for Raheem Sterling at Arsenal, [and] clubs working on documents”.
They don’t have a lot of time, but it could be one to keep an eye on.
Mason Holgate joins West Brom
Everton defender Mason Holgate has joined West Brom on loan for the season.
Fulham’s Nuamah deal
Interestingly, regarding that deal for Nuamah to join Fulham...
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the deal is currently OFF...one to watch then.
Crystal Palace complete deal for Eddie Nketiah
Another deal involving Arsenal today – Eddie Nketiah has completed his move away from the club.
Nketiah joins Crystal Palace in a deal worth around £25m plus £5m in add-ons.
Chelsea set to give up on Osimhen?
It looks like that information from Fabrice Hawkins is being spread, as Sky Sports is now also reporting that Chelsea are set to put an end to their pursuit of Victor Osimhen.
Kaveh Solhekol says that “Chelsea are resigned to not signing Victor Osimhen this summer”, adding that “the Blues made a final offer for the Napoli striker this evening but are still awaiting a response”.
“With 20 minutes to go until the window closes, Osimhen is now not expected to move to Stamford Bridge,” he adds.
