From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

With Burnley and Leicester already safe from relegation, the two sides battle it out at Turf Moor in the pursuit of European football this season, while Crystal Palace host rivals Brighton and Hove Albion at Selhurst Park in what is almost certain to be a feisty affair.
Swansea look to continue their climb up the Premier League table as they host an Everton side whose season is largely fizzling out, while Huddersfield Town take on Watford at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The evening kick-off sees Liverpool look to take momentum from their victory over Manchester City in mid-week as they face Bournemouth at Anfield, while a rare Saturday late game will headline the day’s action as Tottenham host City at Wembley.

25' - It looks like Mo Salah's left his shooting boots at home (he'll definitely score now I've said that).
The Egyptian squares up Nathan Ake on the edge of the box before letting fly from 20 yards but his effort is poor and the ball sails well over Asmir Begovic's crossbar.
31' - Liverpool go close again as Mo Salah exchanges a neat one-two with Jordan Henderson on the edge of the box before getting a shot away. Bournemouth defender Steve Cook makes a good challenge though and the ball balloons over the crossbar.
35' - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain lets fly after picking the ball up 25 yards from goal but Steve Cook again makes a good block and the ball bounces behind for a corner, which comes to nothing for the hosts.
41' - Trent Alexander-Arnold's final ball is so good. He's delivered a couple of superb crosses already today and might've had an assist or two to his name on another afternoon.
44' - Penalty appeal!
The hosts want a penalty for handball against Simon Francis but referee Chris Kavanagh waves play on and replays suggest he's made the right decision.
45' - We'll have a minimum of on added minute at the end of this first half.
Half-time - Liverpool 1-0 Bournemouth
The referee brings an extremely one-sided opening period to a close and Liverpool lead at the break through Sadio Mane's early opener.
