Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Chelsea were 2-1 winners at Craven Cottage in a game where all the goals came in the first half.
Gonzalo Higuain gave the visitors a 20th minute lead, which was cancelled out eight minutes later by Calum Chambers.
However, Jorginho’s 31st minute goal won it for the visitors – but there was late drama as Kepa Arrizabalaga saved an Aleksandar Mitrovic header, before Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon saw a late effort disallowed.
The win takes Maurizio Sarri’s side to within two points of the top four.
A win with their game in hand, against Brighton, will lift them above fourth placed Man United.

EQUALISER! NO!
Sessegnon thinks he has rescued a point at the death, and I'm afraid to say it's going to be another offside debate.
He tucks it away after the knock down but it is ruled out. Wrongly or rightly, Chelsea should be walking away with all the points now.
Full Time: Fulham 1-2 Chelsea
A first away win for 2019 for Chelsea as they close the gap on the top four.
Goals from Higuain and Jorginho sealed the win which takes them just a point behind Arsenal in fifth and two from Manchester United in fourth with a game in hand.
Chambers equalised in the first half for Fulham but despite some excellent late chances the recalled Kepa ensured Chelsea enjoyed their short trip home.
So, on to the final fixture of the day, and we've saved the biggest till last. It's the Merseyside derby, and here's a reminder of the teams:
Everton: Pickford, Coleman, Keane, Zouma, Digne, Gueye, Schneiderlin, Walcott, Sigurdsson, Bernard, Calvert-Lewin
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah, Origi.
Not that this fixture needs any further historical layers, but......
The players are in the tunnel at Goodison Park, so there's just enough time to read about what we learnt at Craven Cottage plus some player ratings.
Wow, that's some roar the players have come out to at Everton.
Which way to you see it going today in the Merseyside cauldron today?

Sigurdsson gets us underway here and it is blue against red once again.
4 min: Everton 0-0 Liverpool
Graeme Souness said Everton need to get in amongst the Liverpool players, and it comes as no surprise that they are doing just that as pressure is applied both on and off the field on Liverpool.
Oh, and it's loud in here, in case you were wondering.
↵There's always someone reminding the Premier League of the bigger picture
