Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Chelsea were 2-1 winners at Craven Cottage in a game where all the goals came in the first half.

Gonzalo Higuain gave the visitors a 20th minute lead, which was cancelled out eight minutes later by Calum Chambers.

However, Jorginho’s 31st minute goal won it for the visitors – but there was late drama as Kepa Arrizabalaga saved an Aleksandar Mitrovic header, before Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon saw a late effort disallowed.

The win takes Maurizio Sarri’s side to within two points of the top four.

A win with their game in hand, against Brighton, will lift them above fourth placed Man United.

Bit of an ugly altercation there when the ball was not in play, as Bryan cmakes a challenge on Willian, and the Brazilian has to be calmed down by his teammates.

There's a change for the hosts as well shortly after, as Ayite replaces Babel, before Bryan forces another good save from Kepa.

Chelsea have been hanging on a tad at times in this half but Fulham will need their subs to have some sort of an impact as the sting seems to have died a little from their forward play.

On the other side, Ruben Loftus-Cheek will hope he can settle the game for the Blues as he comes on for Ross Barkley.

Four minutes to go and both teams seem to have run a bit out of ideas, but Loftus-Cheek is proving to be a big threat.

Who will have the final say?

CHANCE! SAVE!

That could have been the equaliser, but Kepa pulls out an excellent stop to prevent Mitrovic, who heads Ayite's clever pass goalwards.

Five minutes added on here. Will Fulham get another opportunity to salvage something?
