From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Kurt Zouma scored his first Everton goal as the Toffees beat Bournemouth 2-0 at Goodison Park.

The Cherries impressed for large parts of the first half and saw David Brooks hit a post after 18 minutes.

Everton, though, grabbed the opening goal just after the hour mark when Zouma headed home Digne's cross.

The hosts then wrapped up the three points when substitute Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted Lookman's low cross in added time.

There hasn't been much to separate these two sides this season. Both are level on 27 points, in 11th and 12th respectively, and both have struggled for consistency in recent weeks.

Expect a close encounter, then. The onus will be on Everton to take the game to Bournemouth, especially given their run of four defeats in their last five Premier League games, but Eddie Howe's side certainly won't be playing for a 0-0.

There is, after recent results, a bit of pressure building on Everton boss Marco Silva. The Toffees could do with a win today.

Bournemouth, like Everton, have struggled for victories since their excellent start to the season. They have won just two of their last 12 in the Premier League, but remain comfortably in midtable. There is, of course, no pressure on Eddie Howe, who's done an undeniably brilliant job with the Cherries. A win on the road, though - hard to come by of late - would be a welcome boost for the visitors today.

Ademola Lookman makes his second league start for Everton this afternoon. He's found opportunities hard to come by since joining the club from Charlton in 2017. If he impresses today, though, it could be the start of a run in the first team.

Bournemouth immediately break forward through Fraser, who drives towards the box and pulls the ball back. Bernard is there to intercept and clear.
