From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Unai Emery's side trailed 2-1 at the break after Eric Dier's header and Harry Kane's penalty had stunned the hosts, who had themselves gone in front from the spot via Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
But they got a deserved win with three unanswered second-half goals, the first a pearler from Aubameyang and then a deflected Alexandre Lacazette strike before Lucas Torreira's late goal sealed the win.

Player to watch…
Christian Eriksen: The Dane is not letting the uncertainty around his future at the club come in the way of his performances. He grabbed an assist and was the mastermind once again in Tottenham’s convincing victory over Chelsea, before coming off the bench to score the late winner against Inter to ensure Spurs remain alive in the race for progression into the Champions League knockout stages.

60 mins: No let off in the Arsenal pressure and they have won a corner after more good work from Ramsey.
61 mins: Sokratis rises well above the Spurs defenders but his header sails over the bar.
63 mins:
Where do this Arsenal side find the energy? They won't stop coming at Spurs and this time Lacazette's dinked ball back into the box escapes all but Kolasinac who feeds Ramsey but he kicks it out for a goal kick and is visibly annoyed with himself.
Cracking stuff.
68 mins: CHANCE SPURS!
Horrible from Hector Bellerin who gives the ball away to Son so cheaply.
The South Korean lines up his shot on the edge of the box and forces Leno into a cracking save.
69 mins: Mustafi looks injured after trying to clear the ball in a wild fashion.
Guendouzi is ready on the bench.
73 mins: Lacazette's cross is turned behind for an Arsenal corner.
75 mins: GOAL! ARSENAL 3-2 TOTTENHAM (LACAZETTE)
WOW!
The substitute, Alexandre Lacazette has scored the goal to reclaim Arsenal's lead.
Ramsey stretches the pass to the Frenchman, just about, but it looks like the chance has gone as he's slipping.
He takes the shot with his left foot and the deflection from Eric Dier sends it beyond the sprawling Lloris.
Wow. Wow. Wow.
The goal came moments after Leno embraced his inner Neuer in racing out of his goal to deal with the danger posed by Sissoko's swift breakaway.
Fabulous stuff all round.
GOAAALLL!!!!! INCREDIBLE! ARSENAL 4-2 Tottenham (TORREIRA)
The Emirates is absolutely rocking as Torreira who has been brilliant all game has scored the goal to give Arsenal a two goal cushion!
Aubameyang's sensational ball through to Uruguayan is perfection and he whips the ball beyond Lloris.
He's been booked for removing his shirt and bearing his chest but he won't care. His first goal for Arsenal is one he will never ever forget.
I'm in disbelief.
