From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Unai Emery's side trailed 2-1 at the break after Eric Dier's header and Harry Kane's penalty had stunned the hosts, who had themselves gone in front from the spot via Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
But they got a deserved win with three unanswered second-half goals, the first a pearler from Aubameyang and then a deflected Alexandre Lacazette strike before Lucas Torreira's late goal sealed the win.

Player to watch…
Christian Eriksen: The Dane is not letting the uncertainty around his future at the club come in the way of his performances. He grabbed an assist and was the mastermind once again in Tottenham’s convincing victory over Chelsea, before coming off the bench to score the late winner against Inter to ensure Spurs remain alive in the race for progression into the Champions League knockout stages.

46 mins: Kane's shot trickles wide but he was furious with Mike Dean for not awarding a corner and it looks like he was right to be.
Yes, that means the second half is now underway once again!
Will we see the same drama as the first half? I certainly hope so!
CHANCE SPURS!
Leno is nowhere near to Eriksen's free-kick and he's lucky that his mis punch only goes out for a corner.
49 mins: Free-kick Spurs.
Looks like Harry Kane is eyeing it up...
49 mins: SAVE LENO!
And the striker forces a fabulous save from Leno who tips it over the bar.
Another corner to Spurs.
54 mins: Arsenal building ahead of steam and Kolasinac sends in a wonderfully floated cross into the area but Spurs clear.
Holding then relieves all pressure by taking on a shot from 40 yards.
I'd have taken him straight off. What a ridiculous thing to do.
OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME!
56 mins: Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham (Aubameyang)
What a wonderful wonderful goal from Arsenal and they deserve it.
Ramsey does brilliantly on the edge of the box despite being ready to slip as he manages to flick the ball towards the Gabon striker.
And with instinctive genius, he just wraps his right foot around the ball and Lloris can do nothing more than watch the ball sail past him.
58 mins: What a magnificent game of football this has been.
Can the last 30 minutes match what has gone before it?
