From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Unai Emery's side trailed 2-1 at the break after Eric Dier's header and Harry Kane's penalty had stunned the hosts, who had themselves gone in front from the spot via Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
But they got a deserved win with three unanswered second-half goals, the first a pearler from Aubameyang and then a deflected Alexandre Lacazette strike before Lucas Torreira's late goal sealed the win.

Can Spurs salvage anything from this game?
82 mins: The ball falls to the small Lucas who has a free header but it goes wide.
84 mins: Vertonghen is off!
A second yellow, despite getting the ball, sees Tottenham's day go from bad to even worse.
He can count himself a little unlucky but the momentum made his tackle on Lacazette seem very rash indeed.
89 mins: Lucas Torreira has been given man of the match and rightly so.
What a performance from the Uruguayan who has been absolutely everywhere today and wrapped it up with a wonderful fourth goal.
90+1 mins: SIX minutes of additional time but Arsenal don't seem nervous.
What a performance.
Arsenal passing it about to a chorus of 'oles.'
They haven't enjoyed many days like this in the last few years...
90+5 mins: Arsenal with only one minute left to hold on here for what will be a momentous victory for them and will send them above Spurs, into the top four.
FULL TIME! ARSENAL 4-2 TOTTENHAM
A magnificent performance from the Gunners gives the red side of North London the three points they much deserved despite the 2-1 deficit at half time.
A brace from Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, one from Alexandre Lazazette, and the man of the match, Lucas Torreira with the icing on the cake.
Spurs took a lead into half time with goals from Eric Dier and Harry Kane but they were simply blown away by the attacking prowess of the Gunners.
Arsenal have yet to take a lead into half time of any game this season and yet, they sit in the top four. Emery has turned this side around.
Watch out for them in the second half in future, lads.
