From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Arsenal have an immediate chance to gain revenge over Manchester City for their EFL Cup final defeat last weekend as they host the Premier League runaway leaders at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night in their rearranged weekend fixture.
With the match set to go ahead despite the widespread snowstorms that have battered the United Kingdom this week, Arsenal will hope for a very different result than the one they experienced at Wembley last Sunday. The Gunners head into the match 10 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, and another loss this evening would come as another serious blow to their top four hopes.
City meanwhile can restore a 16-point lead at the top of the Premier League table if they can secure the three points away from home, which would leave them just six more wins away from claiming the title. Having dispatched Arsenal 3-0 in comfortable circumstances last Sunday, Pep Guardiola’s side will be confident of another win to throw Arsenal’s season into further peril.

33' - City rip Arsenal to shreds again and this time it's Leroy Sane with the goal as he converts Kyle Walker's low cross after a ruthless City counter-attack.
Arsene Wenger has endured some pretty torrid times in charge of Arsenal in recent years but this could end up being his worst night yet.
38' - Aaron Ramsey drives a shot from distance for Arsenal but Danilo makes a brave block and the ball loops behind for a corner, which comes to nothing for the hosts.
40' - Another chance for City!
Sergio Aguero gets on the end of Kevin De Bruyne's low cross on the edge of the six-yard box but Petr Cech makes a good save with his legs to deny the Argentine.
42' - Aaron Ramsey has been Arsenal's best player tonight and perhaps doesn't deserve to be on the losing side.
He's just created a really good chance for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after skipping past Danilo but the Arsenal striker couldn't get his feet in order and ended up knocking the ball back to Mesut Ozil, whose shot was blocked.
45' - We'll have a minimum of two added minutes at the end of this first half.
