From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Arsenal have an immediate chance to gain revenge over Manchester City for their EFL Cup final defeat last weekend as they host the Premier League runaway leaders at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night in their rearranged weekend fixture.
With the match set to go ahead despite the widespread snowstorms that have battered the United Kingdom this week, Arsenal will hope for a very different result than the one they experienced at Wembley last Sunday. The Gunners head into the match 10 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, and another loss this evening would come as another serious blow to their top four hopes.
City meanwhile can restore a 16-point lead at the top of the Premier League table if they can secure the three points away from home, which would leave them just six more wins away from claiming the title. Having dispatched Arsenal 3-0 in comfortable circumstances last Sunday, Pep Guardiola’s side will be confident of another win to throw Arsenal’s season into further peril.

What time does it start?
Arsenal vs Manchester City kicks off at 19:45 at the Emirates Stadium.
Where can I watch it?
The match will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event from 19:00.
5' - The atmosphere at the Emirates is dreadful and the start of this match hasn't been too much better. City have had most of the possession but both teams are still feeling each other out.
The weather and Arsenal generally not being very good looks to have contributed to a disappointing attendance here tonight
9' - Arsenal have the best chance of the match so far as Henrikh Mkhitaryan picks Aaron Ramsey out in the box with a lovely through ball... only for the Welshman's low cross in towards Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to be blocked by Vincent Kompany.
Moments later at the other end Sergio Aguero has a half-chance for City but the Argentine sends his shot from a tight angle straight into the side-netting.
13' - Another chance for Arsenal!
Aaron Ramsey robs Ilkay Gundogan of the ball deep inside the City half before offloading the ball to Mesut Ozil, who immediately picks out Henrikh Mkhitaryan 20 yards from goal. The Armenian takes a touch to steady himself before getting a shot away... but his effort is straight at Ederson, who makes a comfortable save.
GOAL! Arsenal 0-1 Manchester City (Bernardo)
15' - That's a sublime finish.
Leroy Sane dances past four Arsenal defenders before playing the ball across to Bernardo Silva, who cuts inside on his favoured left foot and bends a sumptuous effort beyond Petr Cech and into the top corner.
19' - City defender Nicolas Otamendi is booked after bringing an Arsenal counter-attack to an end with a cynical foul on Danny Welbeck.
Granit Xhaka shoots from the resulting free-kick but Ederson makes a comfortable save down to his left.
23' - Chance for Arsenal!
Hector Bellerin finds Aaron Ramsey in the box with a good low cross and the Welshman gets a decent shot away after a perfect first touch. Ederson is alert to it though and makes an impressive diving save to his right to preserve City's lead.
GOAL! Arsenal 0-2 Manchester City (Silva)
28' - Outstanding goal.
Leroy Sane skips past Shkodran Mustafi down the left wing before ripping a low cross into the feet of Sergio Aguero, who controls the ball before turning the ball into the path of David Silva. The City midfielder uses his first touch to shimmy past Hector Bellerin before slotting a calm finish past Petr Cech at his near post.
That really is an absolutely wonderful team goal.
