A fortnight on from the embarrassing 5-0 home humiliation at the hands of rivals Liverpool, the Red Devils fell to another one-sided defeat as they returned to the scene of the crime for the 186th Manchester derby.
Pep Guardiola’s men cruised to a victory far more comfortable than the 2-0 scoreline suggested, but Eric Bailly’s own goal and a preventable Bernardo Silva effort was enough to ease past United.
Solskjaer had called the loss to Liverpool the darkest day of his near three-year reign and the manner of this loss to their neighbours will lead to renewed pressure during the international break.

There are a few boos at the full-time whistle, but there’s not the same anger as there was following the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool two weeks ago. There’s a complete sense of apathy on a damp day at Old Trafford, but the City fans are having their own party in the corner. It’s a huge win for them.

Van de Beek is brought on to huge cheers from the Old Trafford crowd - the biggest of the day - as Fred makes way.

71 mins: Shaw has gone down again and will be replaced by Alex Telles. It looks like he might have been concussed, in which case he should not have been able to continue after initially going down a few minutes ago.
City are in complete control and there is no sign of a United comeback at this stage.
