Follow for live reaction after Manchester City moved four points clear at the top of the Premier League table as they produced a commanding performance to thrash Leeds United 7-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Phil Foden struck City in front after eight minutes with a bobbled shot from outside of the box that Leeds defender Stuart Dallas was unable to clear off the line. Jack Grealish then ended his 10-match run without a goal as he headed in Riyad Mahrez’s cross to put City two up inside 13 minutes, before Kevin De Bruyne made it three shortly after the half-hour mark.

City picked up where they left off after half-time as Mahrez’s deflected effort made it four, before De Bruyne thundered in a fifth from outside of the box. John Stones and Nathan Ake then got in on the act as Leeds fell apart. Follow all the reaction to a brilliant City performance below:

18 mins: Close! Bernardo Silva drives the ball into the box from the inside left but decides against shooting and knocks it back tpo Foden. Foden sends a pass across to Mahrez who brings it back into the penalty area from the right side and dinks a short pass to the front post. De Bruyne attempts to run onto the ball but he’s beaten to it by Adam Forshaw and the ball is sent out of play.

15 mins: Kevin De Bruyne floats a free kick into the Leeds penalty area but Tyler Roberts heads it away. Foden jumps to meet the loose ball and knocks it back into the box where the dropping ball falls for Aymeric Laporte. He’s put under pressure by Junior Firpo and can’t connect well with an attempted volley sending the effort well over the goal.

13 mins: Now it’s two! Riyad Mahrez swings the corner into the box but Diego Llorente heads it out of the penalty area. Dan James is quickly shrugged off the ball and it’s passed back to Mahrez. He’s got time to curl another cross into the dangerzone and this time he picks out Jack Grealish who heads the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the six-yard box!

11 mins: That goal is Manchester City’s 500th goal under Pep Guardiola. It’s taken City just 207 games to reach the milestone under Pep which is a new Premier League record beating Liverpool’s 234 games under Jurgen Klopp.

8 mins: There’s the opener! Phil Foden drops deep to win the ball before turning towards goal and playing the ball up to Rodri. He beats Luke Ayling and carries the ball into the box. Foden sprints up behind him as Meslier comes off his line. He tackles Rodri but knocks the ball back to Foden who takes a first time shot. He chips it over the goalkeeper but Stuart Dallas gets back to clear the ball. He goes to boot it miles down the pitch but scuffs the clearance and the ball bobbles over the line! Man City lead!

6 mins: Chance! How has he missed?! This is a perfect chance for City to take the lead as Diego Llorente gives the ball away with a horrible pass to Rodri. He sends it to Foden who slips De Bruyne into the box. Meslier comes out to close him down but De Bruyne squares the ball to Bernardo Silva who has an open net in front of him but he pulls his shot wide of goal!

3 mins: Man City create the first chance of the match as Phil Foden receives the ball in the Leeds box and has his effort at goal blocked. Kevin De Bruyne then tries to slide a pass into Jack Grealish but Leeds are able to clear the danger.

Kick off: Leeds get the match started and pass the ball back to Illan Meslier in goal. The visitors then attempt to play the ball down the right wing but a long ball up the pitch is won by Man City who send it back to Ederson to build an attack of their own.

There’s a light show at the Etihad Stadium as kick off draws nearer.

Kevin De Bruyne starts for Manchester City tonight. It’s the first time he’s started a Premier League game since the Manchester derby on November 6th.

De Bruyne has yet to register an assist for City this season after a stop-start campaign that has seen him out of the team with minor injuries and Covid-19. Can he kick start his season tonight?
