Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and more are open for business with the summer transfer window now officially open.

Arsenal are set to push on with their first signing of the summer with a bid for Bournemouth's Ryan Fraser set to be lodged following this week's Europa League final. A new centre-back is high on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's priority list at United with Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and Leicester's Harry Maguire both options. Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan-Bissaka is another on the Norwegian's radar. It won't just be incomings at Old Trafford, however, with Paul Pogba a high-profile target for Real Madrid and Alexis Sanchez on his way out with Inter Milan and Juventus fighting it out for his signature - if he drops his wage demands. And Liverpool could be active too as they look to go one better after failing to win the Premier League title by just a single point.

Manchester United have reportedly submitted a bid in the region of €40-45m for Moussa Dembele.

Various reports in France claim the Lyon star could be on his way to Old Trafford.

And should the former Celtic striker arrive, the future of Romelu Lukaku will come into doubt.

Paolo Dybala appears to have taken himself off the market.

After weeks of speculation the Juventus star could depart this summer, the Argentine has clarified his future.

He said: "My brother's statements? He spoke for himself, I talked to the club and Fabio Paratici and they know what I think.

"I want to stay at Juventus again next year, I want to continue playing here."

Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham.

That's according to the Daily Mail.

They say that the club are keen to match Mauricio Pochettino's ambition and will do so by getting to the front of the queue for the 18-year-old.

Fulham want £40m with Spurs more keen to do a deal around £25m.

Real Madrid have seen a €90m (£79m) bid knocked back for Kalidou Koulibaly.

Corriere dello Sport report Aurelio de Laurentiis turned down the offer for Napoli's outstanding centre-back.

Zinedine Zidane is revamping Real's squad this summer and interest in Koulibaly suggests Sergio Ramos' future could be in doubt.

Koulibaly has been of interest to Manchester United, who are hunting a new centre-back this summer.

United can activate a €150m (£132m) release claude for the Napoli star, which is only available to foreign clubs.

Maurizio Sarri is in pole position to take over at Juventus.

The Italians will have to pay the €6m release clause, but the former Napoli boss looks set to return to Serie A, report all of Italy's daily sport newspapers.

Sarri will give Gonzalo Higuain a lifeline and bring him back from his miserable loan at Chelsea.

While Daniele Rugani and Federico Bernardeschi can expect big roles, with Miralem Pjanic likely to play the Jorginho role.

Mauro Icardi is set to play his final game for Inter.

The Argentine has endured a turbulent relationship with the Nerazzurri.

And Corriere believe tomorrow's match against Empoli could be his farewell match.

Key Barcelona figures have doubts about the benefit of signing Antoine Griezmann, leaving the World Cup-winning star's future uncertain and potentially opening the way to a Manchester United move.

The Atletico Madrid forward last week announced his intention to finally leave the club this summer - in a video that has irritated some among the hierarchy - and the expectation was that Barcelona would meet his £108m release clause.

While some at Camp Nou are enthusiastic about the prospect, the leadership are not unanimous about the 28-year-old and feel money could better be spent elsewhere in what is going to be a busy summer.

That could leave Griezmann with a big decision to make, and sources have told The Independent that communication has been re-established with United, and a deal is possible.

Lionel Messi has made history after becoming the first player to win Europe’s Golden Shoe award for three straight years after his nearest challenger Kylian Mbappe failed to score the required four goals needed in Paris Saint-Germain’s final league match of the season on Friday.

Messi earned the honour, which goes to the leading scorer in league matches in Europe’s top divisions, for a record-extending sixth time after finding the net 36 times for Barcelona, while Mbappe ended the campaign on 33 goals after scoring PSG’s only goal in a 3-1 loss at Stade de Reims.

Messi now has two more than his nearest competitor: Cristiano Ronaldo.
