From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and more are setting themselves up for business with the summer transfer window officially open.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready for the biggest revamp of the United squad in years. A new centre-back is high on his priority list with Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and Leicester's Harry Maguire both options. It won't just be incomings, however, with Paul Pogba a high-profile target for Real Madrid and Alexis Sanchez on his way out with Inter Milan and Juventus fighting it out for his signature - if he drops his wage demands. Liverpool could be active too as they look to go one better after failing to win the Premier League title by just a single point. Champions Manchester City are always big players in the market and could go big with the prospect of a potential transfer ban looming.

Mesut Ozil has played down talk of him leaving Arsenal.

Despite being the Gunners' highest earner the German has failed to make himself a key part of Unai Emery's first-team plans.

As such he's been linked with a move away this summer, but he has moved to clarify the situation.

“I don’t think there’s a chance of that, to be honest,” he told DAZN. “I’ve got two more years here and what happens afterwards is not in my hands. We’ll see then, but I’m proud to be at this club and really happy.”

Everton have been offered the chance to sign Joao Mario from Inter Milan.

The Portuguese international spent time at West Ham on loan a season ago and is set for another chance in the Premier League.

The Toffees would have to pay £15m for his services, according to the Daily Mail.

Back to United where Anthony Martial's future appears to be a little clearer.

ESPN report that the Frenchman is safe from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's expected cull because he is one of Joel Glazer's favourite players.

Across to City and could Leroy Sane be on his way out?

The Daily Record report that Bayern Munich have contacted City over a possible move for the German international this summer.

Sane failed to force his way into Pep Guardiola's starting XI regularly for much of the season and Bayern appear to be ready to capitalise.

Manchester United’s hopes of signing England winger Jadon Sancho this summer have collapsed.

Sancho was United’s number one target for a summer rebuild, and they were willing to pay Borussia Dortmund up to £100m for the 19-year-old.

But United’s recent performances, ending up sixth in the Premier League table, have ended any prospect of a deal. United will be playing Europa League football again next season, entering at the second qualifying round in late July.

There are now major reservations on the side of the player whether Old Trafford would be the right environment for his development.

Arsenal have made a bid for Grêmio centre-back Walter Kannemann.

That's according to calciomercatowho say that the north London club have offered €12m for the Argentine's services.

Newcastle and Southampton are looking to land out-of-favour Everton winger Yannick Bolasie.

The Sun reports that the DR Congo international, who signed from Crystal Palacefor £25m in 2016, may be available for just £7m.

The Magpies are also facing competition for the signature of their Player of the Year, Salomón Rondón.

Wolves are monitoring the Venezuelan, who bagged 11 goals and assisted seven in the Premier League this year and would provide competition for Raúl Jiménez, according to the Daily Mail

Rondón is available for £16.5m after his parent-club West Brom failed to secure promotion from the Championship.

The North-East is his preferred option, however, having settled his family there this year.
