From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready for the biggest revamp of the United squad in years. A new centre-back is high on his priority list with Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and Leicester's Harry Maguire both options. It won't just be incomings, however, with Paul Pogba a high-profile target for Real Madrid and Alexis Sanchez on his way out with Inter Milan and Juventus fighting it out for his signature - if he drops his wage demands. Liverpool could be active too as they look to go one better after failing to win the Premier League title by just a single point. Champions Manchester City are always big players in the market and could go big with the prospect of a potential transfer ban looming.

Ajax are set to offer Donny van de Beek a new contract to fend off interest from abroad.
Voetbalzone reports that director of football Marc Overmars will try and persuade the 22-year-old prospect to stay in Amsterdam a bit longer.
After their exploits in the Champions League, many key figures in the Dutch champions' squad have attracted attention from the continent's big spenders, with Frenkie de Jong already leaving for Barcelona.
Overmars and co. will hope that they can keep the backbone of the team together to try and at least match what they achieved this year.
