While the Gunners secured the services of David Luiz and Kieran Tierney, their rivals Spurs brought in Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis having failed to finalise a transfer for Paulo Dybala.
Elsewhere, Manchester United sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan, Leicester bought Dennis Praet, Mo Besic joined Sheffield United and, in one of the more unexpected deals of the day, Manchester City signed Derby's Scott Carson on loan. The BBC report that Paulo Dybala's move to Tottenham is OFF!
Juventus have reportedly pulled out of the deal after deciding not to sell the 25-year-old.
DONE DEAL! Newcastle have completed the signing of Emil Krafth from Ligue 1 side Amiens for a fee believed to be in the region of £5m.
The Mirror report that talks between Tottenham and Fulham over Ryan Sessegnon have hit an impasse.
A fee was believed to have been agreed last night, however, the saga continues for now.
Newcastle are also considering a move for reported Liverpool target Francois Kamano, according to L'Equipe.
The striker is valued at £14m, however, Newcastle have already invested heavily in their attack this season after completing deals for Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin.
Everton are interested in signing Marcos Rojo from Manchester United.
The 29-year-old Argentinian has fallen out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and could be available for a fee in the region of £25m.
The Newcastle Chronicle report the Magpies may make a move to sign free agent Andy Carroll.
Carroll is reportedly eager to return and the club are conducting fitness tests to asses the risk surrounding any deal.
Watford and Derby are reportedly holding Hannover 96's Genki Haraguchi as a back-up option if they're unable to secure their first-choice targets.
The 28-year-old Japanese international is thought to be available on loan and qualifies for a UK work permit.
DONE DEAL! Brighton have signed Romaric Yapi from PSG.
The 19-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the option for an extension and will join the U23s squad managed by Simon Rusk.
Rusk said: “We are pleased to have completed the signing and are delighted to welcome Romaric to the club.
“He is another player the club has been aware of for a period of time. He is a versatile player and is comfortable at right-back, on the right wing or as a wing back.
“He is a talented player who has great potential, and I look forward to working with him."
