Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Follow all the action from the FA Cup’s fourth round ties this afternoon.

Six fixtures get underway at 3pm, with Championship leaders Norwich City travelling to Barnsley. Brighton are hoping to avoid the same fate as West Brom when they welcome Blackpool to the Amex, with the Seasiders having produced one of the shocks of the third round.

Sheffield United are looking to keep their momentum alive after this competition brought their first win of the season against Bristol Rovers in the previous round. Meanwhile, West Ham are in flying form and won’t want to risk any negative drop when they take on Doncaster. All-Championship ties between Millwall and Bristol City and Nottingham Forest’s trip to Swansea complete the mid-afternoon ties. Follow all the action live below:

7 mins: GOAL! Swansea take the lead with a counter attack. They break down the right hand side and Wayne Routledge whips a cross into the middle of the box. Liam Cullen breaks away from his marker and slots it home with a nice finish.

Sheffield United vs Plymouth

Blades boss Chris Wilder says there’s still belief in his players despite them being bottom of the Premier League. He said:

"There's still belief in the players, we keep going.

"We'll dust ourselves down, as we've done this week, and see if we can get a result and through to the next round.

"I see no downside to winning a game of football, whether it is an eight-versus-eight out there on the training pitch, a pre-season friendly at Stocksbridge, an FA Cup tie or a Premier League game."

Southampton vs Arsenal

Reaction from Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta who says he is disappointed to be out of the FA Cup:

Really sad to be out of the competition. Disappointed to be out and the way we conceded.

"We had issues in the first half and unforced errors as a result of the high-press they do. In the second half we had two or three big chances but not enough.

"It was an even game. In the first half they won a lot of second balls. In the second half we added more quality. We became more dominant and created chances but it wasn't enough.

"We are looking in the market and see what we can do."

Brighton vs Blackpool

Brighton boss Graham Potter isn’t letting the Premier League survival race distract his players from this match. His side are 17th in the table, five points clear of Fulham but he says their focus is on Blackpool:

We've got to get into a mentality just to focus on the next match and try to win the next match,

"As soon as you start looking too far ahead, you cause yourself a problem."
