From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Last year's beaten finalists Liverpool received arguably the most favourable draw after being paired with Porto, while Manchester United face a daunting tie against Barcelona.
United and Liverpool will meet in the semi-finals if they reach the last four, with Tottenham or Manchester City facing the winner of the quarter-final between Ajax and Juventus.

Remember, that is not the end of proceedings in Nyon for our European competitions.
The Europa League draw is coming in about half an hour's time so stick around to see who Arsenal and Chelsea draw in the next round.
But a reminder once again of those Champions League ties:
Ajax vs Juventus Liverpool vs Porto Tottenham vs Manchester City Barcelona vs Manchester United
Just a quick reminder for Manchester United fans if you missed it earlier.
The Reds will have to face Barcelona at home fast so that they do not clash with City's tie at the Etihad in the second leg.

Chelsea dominated Dynamo Kiev and ran out 8-0 aggregate winners, thanks to a hat-trick from competition top scorer Olivier Giroud, while Arsenal were made to work hard for their 3-0 win over Rennes.
But what can we expect from both sides? Profiles coming up...
Chelsea
Maurizio Sarri’s side are the favourites for the Europa League title, and on the basis of their Kiev demolition job, they are worthy of the tag.
The tie was wrapped up in the first leg with a 3-0 home win, but Olivier Giroud scored a perfect hat-trick as the Blues ran out 5-0 winners in the Ukrainian capital and with an 8-0 aggregate scoreline in their favour.
Their form in the Premier League though has not been as impressive, and with the chance of finishing in the top four looking tough and passing up the opportunity to defend the FA Cup, the onus on Chelsea to win the Europa League has certainly increased.
But Sarri will not mind too much of the route his side take to get back into the Champions League, but qualification for it is vital.
Arsenal
Unai Emery has had a topsy-turvy season in his first campaign in charge of Arsenal, but their success against Rennes in the last 16 of the Europa League seems to show things are coming together nicely for the Spaniard at the right time.
The Gunners made it difficult for themselves though in the first leg, succumbing to a 3-1 defeat in France after the sending off of Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
But a week later Arsenal secured their passage to the quarter-finals thanks to a double from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a first European strike for Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
The Gunners are also in a commanding position for Champions League qualification in the Premier League as they look to remain in the hunt for the trophy and attempt to overtake rivals Tottenham in the league.
We're ready in Nyon for the Europa League draw.
Will Arsenal and Chelsea face each other? Or is there a testing tie against Napoli waiting for one of them?
There could also be a trip to Spain in the offing, with Valencia and Villarreal in the draw.
Where is this one headed after the drama of earlier?
Pedro Pinto is back, and the only change that has been made is the switching of the trophies.
"Knockout football can be cagey at times" he says, and Arsenal certainly found that out yesterday night!
Luis Figo is still in attendance as well, but there is no place for his former side Inter Milan after they were knokced out by Eintracht Frankfurt.
