From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The Gunners boast a commanding 3-1 aggregate lead from the first leg, when Martin Odegaard gave his side the lead with a fierce long-range shot. A calamitous error gifted the Greek champions a second-half equaliser, however, Gabriel Magalhaes and Mohamed Elneny seized a firm advantage for Mikel Arteta’s side in the final 15 minutes. Arsenal are clear favourites to progress to the quarter-finals, but will still remember the scars of their dramatic exit at the hands of Olympiacos last season, when Youssef El-Arabi scored a last-gasp extra-time winner at the Emirates.
Arteta confirmed that a line has been drawn under Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s discipline breach, which saw the captain dropped for the club’s 2-1 north London derby victory against Tottenham. “We talked, everything has been resolved in a really positive way. So we move forward,” Arteta said. “Everybody has to obviously perform at the highest level to earn his place in the team and there is no exceptions there.” Follow all the action live below:

ARSENAL RATINGS
Arsenal vs Olympiacos result: Player ratings as Gunners progress in Europa League despite defeat
Arsenal 0-1 Olympiacos (3-2 agg): El Arabi scored the only goal but the Gunners progress on aggregate
FULL TIME
Arsenal 0-1 Olympiacos (3-2 agg)
Far from convincing from the Gunners, but they reach the Europa League quarter-finals on aggregate despite tonight’s defeat.
90+2’ - Arsenal 0-1 Olympiacos (3-2 agg)
Tierney booked for time wasting, which seems pointless. Odegaard finds Pepe in the box but he can’t get a shot away.
89’ - Arsenal 0-1 Olympiacos (3-2 agg)
Into the last minute. Arsenal have been far from convincing, but they will be going through.
Three minutes added on.
86’ - Arsenal 0-1 Olympiacos (3-2 agg)
Different camera angle: the ball was sent the way of the ref, not the way of Martinelli. Either way, Ba is down the tunnel and the Greeks are down to 10. Just under five minutes to go, plus stoppage time. Arsenal almost there, though not really with an impressive performance.
Xhaka picks up his usual booking for a late foul.
RED CARD! 83’ - Arsenal 0-1 Olympiacos (3-2 agg)
Well that’s one way to end any hopes of a comeback. Ba fouls Martinelli and is booked; Ba then gets annoyed and bats the ball at the striker and is promptly shown a red. Olympiacos down to 10 men.
82’ - Arsenal 0-1 Olympiacos (3-2 agg)
Well inside the final 10 minutes now and Aubameyang’s poor night continues: Luiz heads clear, Odegaard sends his captain through on goal...and he dinks a finish five yards wide. Disappointing finish.
ARS subs: Smith Rowe replaced by Martinelli; Chambers on for Bellerin
