From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The Gunners boast a commanding 3-1 aggregate lead from the first leg, when Martin Odegaard gave his side the lead with a fierce long-range shot. A calamitous error gifted the Greek champions a second-half equaliser, however, Gabriel Magalhaes and Mohamed Elneny seized a firm advantage for Mikel Arteta’s side in the final 15 minutes. Arsenal are clear favourites to progress to the quarter-finals, but will still remember the scars of their dramatic exit at the hands of Olympiacos last season, when Youssef El-Arabi scored a last-gasp extra-time winner at the Emirates.
Arteta confirmed that a line has been drawn under Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s discipline breach, which saw the captain dropped for the club’s 2-1 north London derby victory against Tottenham. “We talked, everything has been resolved in a really positive way. So we move forward,” Arteta said. “Everybody has to obviously perform at the highest level to earn his place in the team and there is no exceptions there.” Follow all the action live below:
36’ - Milan 0-0 Man United (1-1 agg)
Big chance for Milan after Fernandes gives away the ball. Castillejo leads the counter, but his pass to Kessie is poor and Lindelof makes a great sliding clearance. It was, briefly, three on two there.
32’ - Milan 0-0 Man United (1-1 agg)
Henderson reacts well to beat Kjaer to a loose ball in the United box. Milan perhaps having the edge in midfield right now, though United still look slightly sharper with their attacking players.
28’ - Milan 0-0 Man United (1-1 agg)
A little more end-to-end this game now, though not in a relentless, frenzied way. It’s a little slow and most attacks are from set-pieces so far.
24’ - Milan 0-0 Man United (1-1 agg)
Fantastic burst from Theo Hernandez. He leaves Wan-Bissaka for dead and evades three more - but is just crowded out as he looks to fire a shot in from the edge of the box. Calhanoglu then has a shooting chance but fails to connect cleanly from inside the box.
22’ - Milan 0-0 Man United (1-1 agg)
Big chance, big waste. James runs through two on one and tries to take on Tomori for pace - no chance. The defender shows his awareness and strength and sneaks the ball away.
18’ - Milan 0-0 Man United (1-1 agg)
Fernandes sends over a corner and Donnarumma punches it clear further than most people can pass the ball. United have probably been slightly the better side, or the more adventurous side, in this opening spell.
14’ - Milan 0-0 Man United (1-1 agg)
Shaw and Fernandes combine on the edge of the Milan box and the latter eventually has the shot - but he’s leaning back too much and skies his effort. Decent chance, poor finish.
10’ - Milan 0-0 Man United (1-1 agg)
Theo Hernandez tries to free Castillejo down the left, but Lindelof tracks back to clear the danger. Neither team really fashioning an opening so far.
6’ - Milan 0-0 Man United (1-1 agg)
Donnarumma a little fortunate to escape with a goal kick after trying to pass out past James, out on the left side of the box, and seeing the ball bounce off the winger and out of play. Shaw then bursts into the box on the opposite flank, but his attempted cut-back is cleared.
