Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Newport delivered a huge FA Cup shock at a rocking Rodney Parade to beat Leicester 2-1 and pile the pressure on Foxes manager Claude Puel.

County bridged a gap of 74 places on the league ladder after Jamille Matt's early header was cancelled out eight minutes from time, Rachid Ghezzal's thunderous leveller having seemingly spared the Premier League visitors.

But three minutes later Marc Albrighton handled Vashon Neufville's cross on the corner of the box and Padraig Amond stroked home the resulting penalty.

It was no less than Newport, 12th in Sky Bet League Two and with only one win in all competitions since the end of November, deserved and rekindled memories of their cup heroics from last season.

Elsewhere, Manchester City put seven past Rotherham, Fulham and Sheffield United were stunned by lower-league opposition, and there were dramatic wins for QPR and Millwall. Re-live it all in the live blog below:

Sheffield Utd 0 - 1 Barnet - Coulthirst

Shaquile Coulthirstis rewarded for his disallowed goal earlier as he converts the penalty with a right footed shot to the bottom corner.

Woking 0 - 1 Watford

It's not often you hear the words: "The ball has disappeared down into the men's toilets." spoken on commentary.

Oh the joys of FA Cup football!

QPR 1 - 0 Leeds - Oteh

QPR win a penalty and Aramide Oteh converts it easily to give the home side the lead.

QPR 1 - 1 Leeds - Halme

I'll let Jack take this one.

Woking 0 - 1 Watford

Woking don't like set pieces. Tom Cleverley takes a free kick from outside the box on the left of the pitch.

He hits it with his right foot and the ball thunders into the crossbar.

Fulham 0 - 0 Oldham

Chris O'Grady has a shot saved. That was a good chance for Oldham to take the lead as he found himself with some space in the box to get the shot away.

Man City 2 - 0 Rotherham - Foden

Manchester City double their tally just before half-time. Phil Foden meets a Gundogan through ball and finds the net with a right-footed effort.

Man City 3 - 0 Rotherham - Ajayi OG

Oh dear! That's curtains for Rotherham as Semi Ajayi scores an own goal for the visitors.
