Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Newport delivered a huge FA Cup shock at a rocking Rodney Parade to beat Leicester 2-1 and pile the pressure on Foxes manager Claude Puel.

County bridged a gap of 74 places on the league ladder after Jamille Matt's early header was cancelled out eight minutes from time, Rachid Ghezzal's thunderous leveller having seemingly spared the Premier League visitors.

But three minutes later Marc Albrighton handled Vashon Neufville's cross on the corner of the box and Padraig Amond stroked home the resulting penalty.

It was no less than Newport, 12th in Sky Bet League Two and with only one win in all competitions since the end of November, deserved and rekindled memories of their cup heroics from last season.

Elsewhere, Manchester City put seven past Rotherham, Fulham and Sheffield United were stunned by lower-league opposition, and there were dramatic wins for QPR and Millwall. Re-live it all in the live blog below:

Woking 0 - 1 Watford

Woking have a free kick in a good area. They put the ball into the box but Watford clear it away easily. That was an opportunity for the home side but they certainly aren't out of this contest yet.

Preston 0 - 1 Doncaster

Chance for Doncaster!

Jordan Storey makes an error with his back pass and Mallik Wilks is quick to latch onto it. He rounds the goalkeeper and finds the side netting.

Fulham 1 - 0 Oldham - Odoi

Denis Odoi breaks the deadlock at Craven Cottage with a right-footed shot that he powers into the top corner.

Millwall 0 - 1 Hull - Toral

John Toral puts the visitors in front from very close range and that's a goal in every one of the 2pm kick offs.

Man City 4 - 0 Rotherham - Jesus

It's gone from bad to worse for Rotherham.

Raheem Sterling beats righ-back Zak Vyner and squares it to Gabriel Jesus for an easy tap-in.

Preston 1 - 1 Doncaster - Hughes

All level at Deepdale.

Andrew Hughes jumps highest from a corner and heads the ball into Doncaster's net to bring Preston back to level terms.

Sheffield Utd 0 - 1 Barnet

Kieran Dowell feeds the ball into Keiron Freeman but the winger sends his shot wide of the post.

Barnet still lead but that was Sheffield Utd's best chance of the second half.

Woking 0 - 2 Watford - Deeney

Sema runs the ball to the byline and pulls it back into the centre off the box. Deeney, the pantomime villain at the Laithwaite Community Stadium, puts the ball into the net to surely end Woking's hopes of an upset.

Preston 1 - 2 Doncaster - Anderson

Tom Anderson puts Doncaster back in front. Great scenes at Deepdale!
