From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Tottenham returned to Wembley for the first time since their 2-1 loss to Monaco in September, but Mauricio Pochettino's side once again tasted defeat at the national stadium, this time to Bayer Leverkusen.

The pair met two weeks ago in a 0-0 draw but Kevin Kampl's second-half goal put Tottenham's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages in real doubt.

Spurs now sit third in Group E on four points, two points and one place behind Bayer Leverkusen with only the top two teams progressing to the knockout phase.

Monaco top the group with eight points, while CSKA Moscow sit bottom on two.

15 mins: Chances at both ends there! First Hernandez breaks through but can't quite find Mehmedi with his cut-back before Sissoko breaks down the right but his lofted pass to Dele Alli is intercepted on the edge of the area. Everything got a little frantic there!

20 mins: Spurs nearly played themselves into trouble again there! Eriksen was guilty of a wayward pass but again the Germans couldn't capitalise. You have the feeling that one of these mistakes will prove costly at some point.

27 mins: Janssen is coming on for Spurs at this early stage. It looks like it is because of an injury to Dembele but it means a change of system for the hosts.

32 mins: It looks like Eriksen will play more centrally in Dembele's stead and he's just had a decent chance to take the lead. The Leverkusen defence kept retreating and inviting Eriksen to shoot, which he did, straight at Leno.

41 mins: What a miss! Spurs get away with there! Brandt robs Walker of the ball on the edge of Spurs' area but although his shot it blocked it rolls back to Hernandez. Chicharito aims for the corner but it gets the slightest of deflections from Vertonghen to keep the score level at 0-0.

Half time in both games: TOTTENHAM 0 LEVERKUSEN 0

COPENHAGEN 0 LEICESTER 0

Hardly the thrillers we had last night are they?

Spurs are back out on the Wembley pitch which seems to haunt them so much. Will we have an improvement in the second 45 minutes? I hope so.

Jack Austin2 November 2016 20:48

48 mins: It's Tottenham's turn to press high up the field as they look to stretch Leverkusen at the start of the half. And Eriksen goes within inches of giving Spurs the lead. Fast start by Spurs.

Jack Austin2 November 2016 20:52

50 mins: Just before Eriksen's shot Dele Alli went down under a challenge but the referee played on. Was it a penalty? There is contact but is it enough to go down? Unsure...
