From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Tottenham returned to Wembley for the first time since their 2-1 loss to Monaco in September, but Mauricio Pochettino's side once again tasted defeat at the national stadium, this time to Bayer Leverkusen.

The pair met two weeks ago in a 0-0 draw but Kevin Kampl's second-half goal put Tottenham's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages in real doubt.

Spurs now sit third in Group E on four points, two points and one place behind Bayer Leverkusen with only the top two teams progressing to the knockout phase.

Monaco top the group with eight points, while CSKA Moscow sit bottom on two.

They've made history already this year, why not do it again tonight?

Just 15 minutes to go until kick off at Wembley. If Tottenham manage to win tonight, it will put them a huge step closer to qualifying for the next round. Defeat would leave them needed to win their final two games.

Who will win the game at Wembley tonight?

The players are in the tunnel. It is an anticipated 87,000 crowd, which will be the biggest attendance to ever see an English club in the Champions League. Can Spurs overcome their Wembley wobbles?

Chicharito likes playing at Wembley, he scored here on his Manchester United debut in the Charity Shield. Also played here at the Champions League final in 2011.

2 mins: Leverkusen are playing with their usual high press and they're causing some mistakes from the Tottenham defenders. Not a brilliant start by Spurs.

4 mins: Leverkusen are causing Spurs a lot of problems. They're finding a lot of gaps to play their football in and Tottenham are only able to hack the ball away at the moment.

9 mins: Spurs finally have a foothold in this game and are having a few attacks of their own. Dele Alli is looking dangerous in particular as he glides past a few defenders.
