Roberto Firmino's late goal rewarded a dominant display from Jurgen Klopp's men with a 3-2 victory

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Brazilian came off the substitutes' bench to fire low beyond Alphonse Areola after first-half goals from Daniel Sturridge and James Milner had been cancelled out by strikes from Thomas Meunier and Kylian Mbappe either side of the interval.
Liverpool's win sends them to the top of Group C, with a trip to Italy to take on Napoli to come next month.

When is it?
The game kicks off at 8.00pm on Tuesday 18 September.
Where can I watch it?
BT Sport 2 and BT Sport 4K UHD will be providing live coverage of tonight’s game.
A good, curled in swinger is flicked behind by PSG, and now Liverpool will make that change.
Off goes Daniel Sturridge, and on comes Firmino. A goalscoring return to Champions League starting duty for the England striker.
72 minutes
The following corner ends up at Mo Salah's feet, but the Egyptian side-foots wide.
PSG are really struggling to keep the ball and, despite all their attacking might, haven't had a shot in the second half.
74 minutes
PSG are preparing to make their first change. Julian Draxler will be introduced.
75 minutes
Thomas Meunier does superbly to get back and slide tackle a through ball away from Mo Salah. Meunier has performed well tonight.
76 minutes
Neymar runs across the pitch, waits, waits, waits and eventually plays a ball to an offside Juan Bernat.
Liverpool break with the greatest of ease and earn another corner, to be taken by Mo Salah from the right-hand side.
Headed away by Thiago Silva.
78 minutes
PSG continue to withhold that change, and now are readying Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (relegated at Stoke last year, of course) in addition to Draxler.
79 minutes
Sadio Mane draws the linesman's flag on a very tight offside call, and PSG finally make their alterations.
Off go Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria. Choupo-Moting will go into a striking role and Draxler is floating in attacking midfield.
81 minutes
Neymar ominously charging at the Liverpool defence...
A brilliant toe poke from James Milner stops him. Another solid showing from Liverpool's 'Mr. Consistency' in midfield.
Sadio Mane very nearly finds the bottom corner at the other end from a tight angle.
A poor giveaway by Mohamed Salah in his own half, an ill-advised square ball into Julian Draxler's path. PSG get a couple of fortunate ricochets and the ball rolls to Mbappe's feet just inside the box, the teenager very calmly knocking the ball firmly past Alisson. 2-2.
