From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Teenager Kylian Mbappe scored twice to give AS Monaco a 3-2 win at Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in a Champions League quarter-final first-leg match that was postponed following an attack on the home team's bus.

Mbappe gave Monaco a 19th-minute lead shortly after Fabinho had missed a penalty for the visitors, and they went further ahead when Dortmund defender Sven Bender headed into his own net.

Ousmane Dembele pulled one back for Dortmund in the 57th minute but another defensive mistake allowed Mbappe to break away and grab a third goal for the Ligue 1 side. Shinji Kagawa gave the German side hope with a neat finish six minutes from time.

8 mins: Incredible effort from the home support ahead of kick-off:

It's been a relatively subdued first few minutes at the Westfalenstadion. Both sides are still testing one another out.

10 mins: Glik looks to bring the ball out for Monaco but is stopped by a fantastic sliding tackle from Dembele. So imagine the youngster's surprise when he's penalised for a foul. A travesty!

Monaco lump the free-kick long. Dortmund's defence clears. We go again.

11 mins: The first real chance of the game! Piszczek wins the ball in midfield and spots the run of Aubameyang, who is peeling off the shoulder of the last defender. He plays a straight, perfectly-weighted through-ball which the forward runs onto, but he shoots narrowly over the bar.

12 mins: And now Monaco's best chance of the opening exchanges. The ball is swung into the box in the direction of Lemar but, under pressure, the winger heads over.

15 mins: Dortmund with the better of the opening exchanges, with Aubameyang looking particularly lively.

Weigl has just had a shot in frustration from around thirty yards out, but screwed the ball wildly over the bar.

16 mins: PENALTY TO MONACO!

Mbappe gets in behind the Dortmund defence and Sokratis puts a hand on him, with the Frenchman quick to tumble to the floor. The ref gives a penalty and books the defender.

Soft? Very.

17 mins: FABINHO MISSES A PENALTY!

What fortune for Dortmund! The Brazilian steps up confidently but drags his low attempt wide of the left post!

GOAL! Dortmund 0 Monaco 1 (Mbappe 19')

A stunning counter-attacking goal puts the away side in front!

20 mins: What an incredible run from Bernardo Silva. The midfielder won the ball in his own-half before striding confidently forward, releasing the ball to Lemar on his left at exactly the right moment.

It looked as though Lemar would take the shot on but instead he squared the ball across the face of goal, where both Mbappe and Moutinho were waiting. The former grabs the goal - the ball ricocheting in off his thigh - although replays appear to show he was marginally offside.
