From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Teenager Kylian Mbappe scored twice to give AS Monaco a 3-2 win at Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in a Champions League quarter-final first-leg match that was postponed following an attack on the home team's bus.

Mbappe gave Monaco a 19th-minute lead shortly after Fabinho had missed a penalty for the visitors, and they went further ahead when Dortmund defender Sven Bender headed into his own net.

Ousmane Dembele pulled one back for Dortmund in the 57th minute but another defensive mistake allowed Mbappe to break away and grab a third goal for the Ligue 1 side. Shinji Kagawa gave the German side hope with a neat finish six minutes from time.

GOAL! Dortmund 2 Monaco 3 (Kagawa '84)

Dortmund strike back immediately!

86 mins: Some late hope for Dortmund. Pulisic breaks with the ball and shuffles into the penalty area, passing low to Kagawa. He does superbly well to control it first-time, sells Subasic a dummy, and then slots confidently into the corner of the net.

Game on!

88 mins: Fabinho has just been booked, meaning he'll miss the second-leg.

90 mins: Aubameyang has just spurned a glorious chance to level the scores! Dembele hung a wonderful ball into the box and the forward did well to climb above Glik, but as in the first-half, he directs his header over the bar.

90 mins + 1: There's going to be three minutes of extra-time.

FULL-TIME: Dortmund 2 Monaco 3

But Dortmund don't have enough time to find the equaliser!

After the horrific events of yesterday evening that was a compelling, high-quality match and both sides - including both sets of supporters - can be very proud of the past 90 minutes.

Monaco looked comfortable at the end of the first-half with a two-goal lead, but Dortmund fought back in the second-half, leaving this quarter-final very finely poised.
