Ollie Watkins scored a late winner against his former club as Aston Villa came from behind to win 2-1 at 10-man Brentford on Sunday.
Villa started brightly but spurned several first-half chances with Matty Cash and Jacob Ramsey both putting efforts wide from close range.
Instead, the Bees broke the deadlock just before half-time through Keane Lewis-Potter, who fired home for his first Premier League goal.
Brentford’s Ben Mee was sent off after 71 minutes for a reckless lunge on substitute Leon Bailey, after the intervention of VAR.
Villa made the numerical advantage count six minutes later when Bailey found Alex Moreno unmarked at the back post to level the contest with a cool header.
And the visitors took the lead after 85 minutes through Watkins, who nodded home Ramsey’s corner and sparked a goalmouth scuffle after celebrating in front of his former fans.
Villa’s Boubacar Kamara was also sent off for grabbing Yehor Yarmoliuk by the neck in added time as an entertaining game ended in chaotic fashion.

Brentford vs Aston Villa
Emery's side have created 0.83 xG (expected goals) since the game began from nine shots. However, both teams have created just one big chance each, with the home side taking their opportunity to open the scoring. Villa's efforts on goal have come from all over the pitch, but their top goalscorer Watkins is yet to have a shot. The Midlands club will have to find him in advanced positions in the second half. Frank will be hoping his side can tighten up at the back, but they also look relatively threatening on the break.
Brentford vs Aston Villa
Brentford go into the break with a 1-0 lead over Aston Villa at the Gtech Community Stadium. Frank's side haven't had a host of chances since the game got under way, but they've been more clinical than their opponents so far. It took until the final few minutes of the half for the deadlock to be broken, with Lewis-Potter pouncing in the box to open the scoring from a corner. Villa have had plenty of the ball and look threatening in the final third, but Emery's men need to start creating more clear-cut chances.

Wissa has the ball in the back of the net... but it won't count! Torres plays a loose pass as Villa try and play out and Pinnock is there to pounce on it. He plays it first-time into the feet of Wissa who is in acres of space beyond the defensive line. He dispatches past Martinez, but the assistant has his flag up. NO GOAL.

Torres sends a pass towards Diaby but it's intercepted by Ghoddos who bursts forward towards the Villa half. Diaby hacks him down as Brentford look to counter, and the referee awards a free-kick. The French forward might count himself lucky to have escaped a booking there.

McGinn shifts it out wide to Konsa who exchanges passes with Cash. It eventually comes to Ramsey on the left who crosses into the box, but Brentford are able to clear. Villa are keeping the pressure on and McGinn's pass is loose towards Moreno, but the Spanish defender makes a late foul on Roerslev and the Bees are awarded a free-kick.

So close! Janelt finds the run of Damsgaard who has broke beyond the Villa defensive line. He closes in on the box with no defenders around him and sends a delivery towards the back post in search of Wissa. The Brentford striker is at full stretch, but he can't quite get on the end of it! It wouldn't have counted anyway, with the assistant referee raising his flag for offside.
