Ollie Watkins scored a late winner against his former club as Aston Villa came from behind to win 2-1 at 10-man Brentford on Sunday.
Villa started brightly but spurned several first-half chances with Matty Cash and Jacob Ramsey both putting efforts wide from close range.
Instead, the Bees broke the deadlock just before half-time through Keane Lewis-Potter, who fired home for his first Premier League goal.
Brentford’s Ben Mee was sent off after 71 minutes for a reckless lunge on substitute Leon Bailey, after the intervention of VAR.
Villa made the numerical advantage count six minutes later when Bailey found Alex Moreno unmarked at the back post to level the contest with a cool header.
And the visitors took the lead after 85 minutes through Watkins, who nodded home Ramsey’s corner and sparked a goalmouth scuffle after celebrating in front of his former fans.
Villa’s Boubacar Kamara was also sent off for grabbing Yehor Yarmoliuk by the neck in added time as an entertaining game ended in chaotic fashion.

Cash gives the ball away and Norgaard performs a superb pirouette to evade the challenges of Villa's midfield. The ball falls to Wissa who does well to force a foul and Brentford are able to settle down and regroup for a second. Frank has set his team up to hit Villa in transition, but he will want to see more of it than he has done so far.

Janelt is down in a heap after a heavy challenge with Cash. He looks in some discomfort and it was a late tackle from the Villa defender. The medical team are on the pitch giving treatment to the Brentford midfielder now. It looked a sore one, but it shouldn't be enough to force Frank into a substitution. He should be fine to continue.

Cash cuts in from the right-hand side and the ball is switched out wide to Moreno. Villa work the ball well and it eventually finds Konsa who delivers towards the back post. Moreno gets on the end of it and tries an ambitious effort from outside the box, close to the corner flag, but the ball flies out for a throw-in to Brentford.
Brentford vs Aston Villa
Frank's side have already allowed Villa to have seven shots since the game got under way. Brentford will need to tighten up at the back, especially when you consider the form Emery's men are in at the moment. The Bees have looked a threat at times on the counter, but they need to limit the amount of opportunities Villa are having.

Another opportunity for Villa and Emery's side go a little more direct for this one. Diego Carlos launches it long towards Watkins, who nods it down to Ramsey who has burst into the box. He takes a touch and closes in on the goal, but he gets his shot all wrong and it goes wide. Another really good chance for Villa!

A huge chance for Villa! Torres receives the ball out wide and sends a cross towards the back post. Cash has burst forward and into the penalty area, arriving late, and he beats the Brentford defenders to it. The Polish right-back manages to fling a leg at it, but it goes wide of the post from a few yards out. He should be hitting the target at the very least!

Mee is currently down and he requires treatment, so there is a short break in play. It appears that the Brentford defender has suffered a cut to his face. The tough centre-back is being cleaned up by the medical team and looks ready to return to action. It would take a lot for Mee to be forced off the pitch.

Lewis-Potter goes down in the box under a challenge from Diego Carlos and the Gtech Community Stadium supporters are appealing for a penalty. The referee waves play on. It certainly would have been a soft one and it was wishful thinking from the Brentford forward.
Brentford vs Aston Villa
Emery's men have been the stronger side in the opening stages of the game and have had 62.7 per cent of the ball. Despite the Midlands club dominating the possession, Brentford have had the best chance of the match, but it's the only shot they have registered so far. Villa have managed five shots since the game got under way.
Brentford vs Aston Villa
Villa work the ball well as Torres finds McGinn between the lines in space. The Scottish midfielder turns on it and unleashes an ambitious effort from range, but it's comfortably saved by Flekken for Brentford. The shot lacked power and precision and was no trouble for the goalkeeper.
