Travis Head scored a unbeaten 154 and Marnus Labuschagne contributed 77 as Australia successfully chased down a formidable 316-run target to beat England by seven wickets in the first of their five-match One Day International Series at Trent Bridge.
Australia reached 317-3 with six overs to spare after bowling England out for 315 in 49.4 overs.
It was a 13th successive ODI win for last year’s World Cup winners, and sixth in a row over England, despite being forced to field a depleted line-up because of illness in their camp and injury.
Head’s highest ODI score, coming off 129 balls with 20 fours and five sixes, was ably supported by Labuschagne, who earlier had also proven key in restricting England’s strong start to the contest.

Zampa is back into the attack and he immediately gets a reward, as Jacks tries to shift his feet and play through the off side – it’s awkward and he finds Steve Smith in the covers for an easy catch.
England 165-1 (24) Jacks 62, Duckett 75, Short 0-20 (3)
Jacks drives down the ground and Abbott gets around to cut off the boundary, but lets the ball go through to the rope, much to Short’s disgust.

Another boundary by Jacks, though this one is a little fortunate as he gets a thick edge on a loose thrash. England finish the over with a couple more singles.

And there’s Will Jacks’ half century, pulling in front of square with authority!
Duckett finishes the over with another four, pulled through mid-wicket, to bring up the 100 partnership from only 86 balls. England are in control right now.

An impressive, front-foot innings from the opener, bringing up 50 from 49 balls.

Abbott returns tot the attack, and he’s very frustrated as ball slides down leg off Duckett’s pads and reaches the boundary.
England 110-1 (18) Jacks 37, Duckett 51, Zampa 0-18 (3)
Jack and Duckett rotate the strike well without any boundaries, adding 10 more, and with it that’s Duckett’s half century. They look very settled, these two.

England and Duckett in particular go on the attack against Zampa once more, and add one four and a flurry of singles to the score.

Aaron Hardie resumes and it’s a tight over, going for just two runs.

Adam Zampa comes into the attack, and on his second ball Will Jacks steps down the pitch and smashes back over his head for six! That’s a statement of intent against one of the game’s great white-ball spinners.
