From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Prince Harry opened up about missing his mother, the late Princess Diana on Thursday.
Speaking to former soldier Dennis van der Stroon in The Netherlands ahead of the launch of the Invictus Games, the new dad said "missing a mother is like missing some kind of security".
"He said he meets a lot of people in his work who have lost a mother, father, sister, brother or relatives and when he hears their story, as he heard my story, he said he doesn’t feel so alone," van der Stroon said.
On a happier note, while in The Netherlands, Prince Harry was presented with a onesie for his newborn son.
The baby-gro, given to him by Princess Margriet of The Netherlands, who is honorary chair of the Invictus Games Committee, made the new father smile with glee.
The baby outfit is emblazoned with Invictus Games.
"It's lovely!" Prince Harry said.

Duke and Duchess of Sussex launch new mental health project with Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in days after Archie's birth
Days after welcoming their newborn son into the world, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have joined forces with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to launch a text messaging helpline to support those struggling with poor mental health.
The initiative, dubbed Shout, was formed from a £3m grant donated from the Royal Foundation, the charity that the four royals run together and use to fund various philanthropic projects ranging from wildlife conservation to supporting young people.
Shout aims to help those in need progress from “crisis to calm” by providing them with trained volunteers offering instant support. The service is anonymous, free to use and open 24/7.
