A statement was released on the royal couple’s official Instagram account, revealing that the baby was born before 6am and weighs 7lbs. 3oz.
The first pictures of the couple with their newborn were revealed on Wednesday. The newborn was seen swaddled in a white blanket wearing a white hat.
The couple later announced on Instagram that they had named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

Speaking about his firing from the BBC, Danny Baker told LBC: "The thing was put up there as a joke about class...
"The idea that there was any racial basis for it came out of my own ignorance.
"I curdled that anyone could have thought that was the intent behind that photo."
The broadcaster announced her had been fired by the BBC earlier today tweeting about the royal baby using a photo of a chimpanzee.
Speaking about the firing, a BBC spokesman later said: "This was a serious error of judgment and goes against the values we as a station aim to embody. Danny's a brilliant broadcaster but will no longer be presenting a weekly show with us."
During his trip to The Hague, Prince Harry was given a personalised jacket that featured a specially adapted version of the Invictus Family logo.
The logo on the jacket spelt out "I am Daddy" in yellow embroidery.
Harry sported the customised garment while riding an Invictus Games bike.

Reporting on the news of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor's birth, the show Cuéntamelo Ya! said the newborn's parents were "Harry Styles and Meghan Markle”.
Unsurprisingly, Twitter is enjoying the show’s faux pas.
The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon will feature a song dedicated to the Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor this evening.
The show's Twitter account, @FallonTonight, teased the song earlier today with the caption: "Jimmy sings a song for new Royal Baby Archie."
Prince Harry praises 'very quiet' Archie and discusses impact of losing a mother during visit to The Hague
Prince Harry has expressed delight that is newborn son, Archie, is "very quiet".
Former soldier Dennis van der Stroon spoke to the 34-year-old royal on Thursday afternoon during his visit to The Hague. According to Stroon, the new father gushed about his newborn and explained that he is his priority right now.
The two also spoke about losing a mother, Stroon added.
"He said missing a mother is like missing some kind of security, how you need that as a son and it falls away when you lose your mother."
Radio host Danny Baker has insisted he’s not racist after being fired by the BBC for the controversial tweet about the royal baby.
In an interview with Sky News, the former Radio 5 Live presenter admitted the tweet was “ridiculous, stupid and idiotic”.
“I’ve seen these things happen to other people but you never think it’s going to happen to you,” he said. “The unconscious and ridiculous tweet I did yesterday has started all this off.
He continued by saying he’s not some “slathering, secret racist”, adding: “What I did was make a ridiculous, stupid and idiotic mistake.”
Comedian Amy Poehler has expressed her approval of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor's name - as Archie is also the name of her 10-year-old son.
During the premiere of her new comedy Wednesday, Poehler told People: "Well, what an exciting day for Archies!" before adding: "I love that name - I've been a fan for 10 years. So welcome to the club!"

George Clooney, who shares a birthday with the royal baby, also shared his thoughts on the infant's name.
"It's a good name," he told Ellen DeGeneres. "And it's better than Jughead, too..."
Clooney's joke was in reference to the character Archie from the Archie Comics and the show Riverdale, whose best friend is named Jughead.

New father Prince Harry gave a speech today at the launch of the Invictus Games, where he acknowledged the importance of "showing the world what teamwork, friendship and loyalty really means".
